No, McLaren claims 600 kg at 165 mph (265 kph). I believe they claimed a similar number to that of the Ferrari at 124 mph. Makes sense too, since drag and downforce grow exponentially in relation to speed. I reckon that they produce similar levels of downforce.

600kg at 160mph. McLaren never released a downforce figure at 125mph.

I still believe P1 has more downforce, especially given that Ferrari's downforce claims haven't been all that accurate in the past.

Either way the difference in performance b/w the p1 the laf is not very big.. in this case, for me personally

noise + looks > lap times

I don't know why, but I am surprised at what an amazing job Ferrari have done on the LaF as on overall package.

The LaFerrari looks much better in motion than in pictures IMO. I haven't seen the LaF, P1,or 918 in the flesh but I was most skeptical about the LaF's looks until now. P1 still excites me most but the LaF is stunning! My only question is what is going on with the windshield wiper in Sutcliffe's video?

It was nice to hear his surprise at the amount of downforce he felt.

Honestly I'm happy to hear about the LaFerrari feeling like a badass older brother of the 458. I say that because I've heard more than once that the only car that feels dynamically as sound and alive as the P1 is the 458, albeit in a slower package.

It bodes well for the LaFerrari if it feels like a faster, more badass 458.

It isn't possible to 'have useable access' to 950bhp all of the time. Not power that can be deployed on the road. Not all of the time in all situations.

Indeed, in the end it's just a matter of personal preference. They are all directed at different types of customers. What's fascinating is that each of the three companies basically started off with a clean sheet of paper, had the same concept, but the end products are totally different from one another, yet they have similar levels of performance. It's almost like Formula One. :)

Yes, amazing engineering from all of them!

I can't help but feel like Porsche is going to be seen as "the 3rd wheel" here... I like the car but it just doesn't excite as much as the other two.

2014 Ferrari LaFerrari First Drive ? Review ? Car and Driver

"The powertrain responds like an electric motor, but sounds like a big, brassy V-12. Somehow, the hybrid system preserves the engine’s inherent smoothness; it just adds more—more low-end torque, more linearity, more clearance to redline. You are never out of the powerband."

    Stunning work.. bravo

How I write earlier, LaFerrari is in all aspects the best: design, pover, fast on track....

918 - 4 medium-sized adults = LaFerrari. Good luck selling 918 cars that will be worth half what you paid.

That's always the case, not sure why. Same with the P1.

I forgot the P1 is so mind boggling its engine is based on 12C V8 engine, its tub is based on 12 tub, its Nike running shoe styling. Oh but it has great numbers, its all about the numbers...at McLaren numbers matter more than anything else it seems, the greatness of its cars are defined by numbers.

No thanks what's mind boggling to me is a car with bespoke styling, proper V12 engine, bespoke tub which isn't based loosely on a lesser car in the range.

Seriously though and the first part of this post was partly serious but is sure to get a reaction from some. Both these cars are great, saying one is bad is like saying the 5.10 blond with 32c's is nicer than the 5.9 blond with 34d's, perhaps not the most appropriate comparison but nevertheless.

Its great that there are now reviews appearing on LaF.

Haven't they already sold like 700?

There is something very special about the 918 and unique. It might not have the same performance as the other two, but in some ways it's vastly better.

Different strokes for different folks. Most people buying the 918 don't care about the potential depreciation. Never heard of anyone who could afford a $1M complaining about depreciation.
