Other than getting the polarity right, does it matter which points I solder to? Thanks for the contact to the store!
Thanks guys, that's what I wondered and that was my initial response when he called me Saturday night. Cheers
I just replaced my dead siren with the GM unit and everything looks and sounds correct. Beeps and lights operate like they should. Just no alarm siren. I lock the door with the fob and reach into the car through the open window, open the door, and the lights start flashing but no sound from the siren. Anyone else have this issue with the GM/Bosch siren?
Stout, most of us with the GM siren have what you have, chirps correctly when locked and unlocked and lights flash but upon uninvited entry only lights flash, no siren. Bill FL
Wow. Interesting read. My 2006 F430 Coupe does the same thing whenever I lock and unlock the car using the key fob. So I guess its time to change the batteries.
I just thought it would be easier to replace with GM P/N 15213135 like posted here... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/388142-alarm-siren-info-gm-availablity.html The GM replacement cost me $80 including freight from GM Parts & Accessories Online : GM Parts Club.
Does the alarm trip when you purposely arm and set it off with the GM part? Some people find that it doesn't do that.
Hi My F355 sirens pcb had acid damage so I bought a used siren from a F550. Its the same number on the siren but my old one had buttoncell and the F550 has the green VARTA. I also changed the batteries to new VARTA ones on the F550 Siren while the battery condition is unknown(pcb in perfect shape). The F550 siren which is fit to my car now have a pcb in perfect shape and new batteries. Siren chirps and everything works, but when I lock/larm the car it blinks and chirps 4 times. Is this only caused by switch failure in door/hood/bonnet? or could there be other issues? Sorry my bad english. Michael: Does your siren beep when you unlock the car? In some countries it does not(just light). My car has origin Italy and my new siren is of unknown origin(most certain europe).
Hope someone can help. Apparently the GM part is either discontinued or on back order. From what I am told it will be months. Any other non OEM options? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Call AW Auto 1-800-631-5589 ask for David He should be able to hook you up I got mine there and it works perfectly
Calling it sod's law as I was reading this thread the other day and after taking the car for a spin today, it beeped when starting and then red led stayed lit. Gotta stop reading this site as my car knows and then demands attention! For my uk brethren, does anyone have any links to battery suppliers and/or replacement alternative sirens altogether? The majority of this thread is based from a US viewpoint and I know there's is a different system with beeping on locking. Also can the car operate fine if I disconnect the siren for the time being? Unlocking etc is done by the alarm ecu so I fail to see the point as others have done to replace the unit with one that doesn't make an audiable alarm if broken in to.
Somewhere in this or one of the other threads is that someone tried and failed to get the Corvette or the Vauxhall equivalent to work in a uk car so your only options are £ 250 for as new one or not bother (no need to disconnect) or go to Maplin and get a battery box to wire outside or perform surgery to replace internally (instructions for both previously posted)
I did the external battery pack modification and it's been working fine for over a year - thread here: 360 alarm siren
Thanks both. Appreciate it. Decided to remove and open the siren today just to see the state of it. Once open it looked very good inside surprisingly so probably replaced by the previous owner. Light wasn't lit today when I went for drive so will monitor it for the time being and go with the maplin route if it does it again. When removing the siren though I did find an electrical lead that was loose and not connected to anything. Also just above the siren is a bunch of grounding points and one has a metal clip attached to it (and nothing else) that looks like it previously had the other end of the electrical lead connected to it (similar to other connections on the car that have a grounding clip attached to where two cables are connected together) Anyone know what this could be? It comes from behind the dash behind the steering wheel? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I Have a 2004 360 Modena and my alarm light just started staying on all the time. I am 4 hours from a dealer and they do not call me MR. FIx it. If I do not replace the battery/siren will that hurt anything or will that effect the car in any way until I get it fixed ??
Yeah, it might. When the battery fails, and they all will eventually fail, they often leak. This then ruins the circuit board. That's what happened to mine long before I bought it and there was no way for me to salvage the device. The fix is easy, but you have to do it before the batteries leak. So if you don't want to tackle the job, call the teenage kid next door and ask him to cut your alarm siren open and at least remove the old batteries. If this neighbor kid isn't real stupid, he can probably complete the battery replacement procedure too. The instructions are posted on this forum. It's not hard. By the way, rather than use a big knife and risk cutting off one of your fingers, use a fine hacksaw or razor saw to open the case. Don't cut too deep. If it works, do something nice for your neighbor kid like let him use your car for the High School prom or maybe buy him a track-day and let him use your car to learn about drifting.
If there is no mating connector it's probably for some device that is on a different vehicle version -- maybe a spider or -- for the brake fluid level on a 6 speed. Alan
Guys, just to confirm, this is the correct GM replacement, yes? Full functionality EXCEPT no siren upon trigger, correct? Image Unavailable, Please Login
