Hey guys, i am a new member and picking up my Ferrari FF tomorrow! It's also my first Ferrari (I currently also have a McLaren 12c).

my FF has the sports exhaust. i was wondering if the Novitec exhaust is well worth the upgrade over the sports exhaust... or is the sport exhaust enough.

    Thanks!

The Novitec would be a big upgrade, from an already potent sound to 599 GTO like shrieking. I'm sure your 12C will feel a bit muted afted the new exhaust. :)

Do a search on the forum for novitec, there are a couple that have one, and a few posts on them.It seems those that have gone for the Novitec system are very happy with it.
I have bought one for mine, just wating for them to book in the fitting in a couple of weeks, so will report back once its done.
I have gone for one with the capristo remote so I can still keep it a bit quieter if need be

I have the Novitec exhaust (just the mufflers and pipes). The sound difference with valves open is remarkable, while it is still reasonably quiet with valves closed. This enables me to travel long distances without the wearing effect of too much noise but to have the full roar of the V12 when wanted. I had found that the car was simply too quiet inside the cabin due to a great deal of sound insulation. The construction is of course excellent. I am very pleased with it.

The sport exhaust option from Ferrari is just a cosmetical change (there are little grilles inserted inside the pipe to give it a more technical look) It sounds the same as the standard exhaust.

    The Novitec exhaust is insane.

Yeah, if you start adding everything up like sport cats etc it gets expensive.

Does any one know what the exact components of the novitec system need to be ordered to keep it "legal"?

If by "legal" you mean meeting emissions regulations, replacing the mufflers and pipes/tips will not affect emissions. If you go back further in the system and replace the catalysts or headers, all bets are off. The same thing applies if you want to keep your factory warranty on the engine in place. Ferrari dealers know that a lot of guys like to put on aftermarket exhausts (mufflers and pipes) so it is a very common thing for them, but again if you fiddle with the cats or the headers, you are on your own.

A very pretty car. The black tips take the car in a sporty direction, which you had already in the red body color. You may want to think about going further and doing some kind of darkening powdercoat on the wheels. Not necessarily black of even dark gray. There is a huge number of options. At the very least you can have fun browsing through the Prismatic Powder site. Prismatic Powders: Powder Coating Colors
