Received these yesterday. I got them to have a look. They won't fit the 348 as the sill on the car is not straight so I may have them copied and adapted to fit. The 458 Speciale has them, but I had an idea to do it before that car was launched. Saw it on a Honda S2000. It's mainly for looks and I kind of like it, but not sure if I really want to put it on the car. If everyone says don't do it, then I probably will. If you look at the new Speciale you'll also notice it also has them integrated in the front bumper. My opinion is, if you are going to put them on, and if they are to be functional, you will need them on the front sides of the bumper as well. If you don't have them on the front bumper then I don't think the airflow will get directed down the side of the car. It will detach itself far enough out so that were you want to put the winglet will basically have minimal to no effect. The other thing is, the aerodynamics of the 348 are much different than the 458. So you would really need to do some air flow testing to get it right, and see if they would actually help keep the laminar airflow attached to the car.
I believe the slogan "just because he has money doesn't mean he has good taste" comes to mind.... Enough said. Your car looks great the way it is right now!
I think your 348 looks great the way it is now, Sy. I wouldn't advise adding winglets. All the best, Andrew.
In that case, I'll say - DO IT! But in all seriousness, I wouldn't... it'll junk-up the appearance of the car. I'm not big on modifications of any kind, though... to the extreme that I don't even like the idea of swapping out rims. Keep it original!
Everyone has different taste my friend. That's what makes the world an interesting place to be in. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Someone needs to make/design some winglets for the "Rear" of the wheel wells front and rear. My 355 vacuums up rock chips faster than a squirrel on meth stock piling nuts before winter. Even the rock chips that have touch up paint on them have been touched up again and again. Thinking I should just file/sand the whole mess off and start over. Amazing how the sound of the engine at 7-8000 rpm reminds me I could really care less about a few rock chips.
By some weird coincidence I also thought I saw Dem (or at least what I remember as the registration from his 355) in a white Evoque on the same day... What are the odds?
