    I just brought home a 2004 360 Spider.
When I went to plug in my cell phone charger into the cigar lighter port, the port is larger than the normal port.
    The plug doesn't fit.
Does anyone know where to find an adapter?
Radio Shack does not have one, in spite of the service department suggesting them.
I searched this entire site and came up empty.

A lot of commercial adaptors don't fit. None of my cell or GPS plugs will stay in. One of my GPS's does work until I hit a bump. Occasionally I see one in a clients car that does fit.

I would suggest hard wiring one to the battery terminal posts behind the seat.

I think that you are looking for a shim like this:
    http://www.maxmost.com/product_images/cellphoneaccessories/scla.jpg

I can't find anyone that sells them any more, I think they were popular in the 80's.
Some guys are using plastic milk jugs to cut out a shim, or just wrapping it in electrical tape etc.
I think I remember buying stuff in the past that included these shims. Maybe it was a radar detector or some other 12v accessory.

That's interesting. I have a Garmin and the plug fits perfectly. I have no idea why Ferrari would change to a non-standard cigar lighter socket on later cars as every US car uses the same one.

My lighter would not work with any of my adaptors. So I pulled it out and put a lightweight CF cup holder in its place, from the nice folks at Ricambi. I recommend the cup holder, I noticed a big improvement in my throttle response and the weight distribution is a lot better too. ;)

I may attempt to install a standard cigar lighter receptacle somehow.
I WILL NOT install it and distrub any of the interior of course, but maybe to the rear of the console?
I do not think it is a Euro car....but how can I find out?
The CarFax indicates it was originally sold new in 2004 in California.
    Any suggestions?

Assuming your car charger is not a standard sized one, why not buy a different version of cell phone charger that fits?

Is it that the oem is a non standard size or is it that the part they use is crappy? My iphone adaptor fits but not snugly and really only works if i apply pressure to one side, like pushing it toward the drivers seat. Just figured it was another crappy after thought of a part from Ferrari.

The receptacle is about 1/4"-3/8" in diameter too large. My plug just swims around in it.

All of the car charger plugs I've seen are the same size and fit in EVERY other car I own, and I own 7, Italian, Japanese, German and American.

Wondering if it is an easy swap to a conventional receptacle.
Anyone know how to remove the unit?

Had the same problem with my valentine 1, ended up hard-wiring it to the clock.

To pull the lighter, just open the lid, remove the 1 Phillips screw at the bottom, pull unit out, then unplug the wires.

Here is an option that might work:

    Ferrari Parts : CF-FERCUP-CGL : Ricambi America

Just unplug your old lighter and plug this in and route it out from under the console. I didn't do this with my new cup holder because:
    1) I hardwired my V1
    2) I just bought a Power Gen for all my other power requirements. I got it off of Flea-bay. (I have several friends that have them and love them, portable power)

    Sounds good.
    Thanks.
I'm going to try this adapter.
