It´s already passed 32 years.....32 years without the most iconic driver Ferrari ever had, 32 years without the fastest driver that ever lived, 32 years without the most talented racer the world as ever seen....but we will never forget you Gilles.
If there is some sort of racing in heaven, i'm pretty sure you're having fun with Clark, Senna and others..and beating the crap out of them all!!!
32 years after, you are still the best!!

Salut Gilles! Does the Villeneuve racing tradition end with Jacques? The family must have some grandchildren raising hell in karts or snowmobiles somewhere. :)

Juat a couple of stories....i liked very much the last one...

I was there when... 1979 United States GP - F1 History - Motor Sport Magazine

Against All Odds - from the MotorSport Archive

    David Hutson
I was alternating between Ferrari and Lotus pits, working for AP. I saw Gilles carried to his car, strapped in and drive off. Not speaking Italian I spent most of the session in the Lotus box, standing with Mario, Carlos, Goodyear’s Paul Lauritzen, all chatting and joking. Gilles did many laps in the downpour and Lauritzen once wondered aloud, “how is that guy so damn fast when it’s too wet for rest of us to get out from under the roof. Carlos looked at Mario, both then at Lauritzen. They both grabbed their crotches and Carlos said, “big, BIG bone!” The place was in tears laughing so hard.
One of the highlights of my career.

All true sentiments. My first racing hero was Jim Clark. I was living in London and 13 years old.
    The impossible had happened.
When I discovered Gilles Villeneuve he gave you the real feeling of being on the edge, walking the tightrope without a net as they say.
With Gilles you always knew what you would get...110% none less.
Think of him every time I watch F1 still.
