Hello, Trying to get a little education on a 365 GTB4 engine we have. The first 4 letters on the pad look to be FFPR? The engine is currently in a street rod built back in the early 80's in Southern Cal. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No doubt, what you are looking at is "FERR," which should be followed by "ARI 251" - "FERRARI 251." This is the engine type. Look above that for an even number preceded by the letter "B." This is the internal engine number and is car specific. Here is an example: Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is a motor from a Euro-spec Daytona. On the lower smooth rectangular boss, instead of being stamped "Ferrari 251," the USA-version Daytonas will show/repeat the given "B----" engine number a second time.
That's correct. And the very early Daytonas had the chassis number stamped on the engine boss. Fiat stopped this practice very early in the run. Steve
