Who's more sensitive to the condition of their paint; Ferrari drivers or Hyundai drivers? Have you ever punched an old man in the face for touching your Ferrari. If not, why not. It's apparently all the rage in California, at least when it comes to Hyundais.

APPLE VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A 79-year-old man was attacked when he accidentally bumped into a car in a grocery store parking lot in Apple Valley.

The incident happened Sunday at a Stater Bros. on Bear Valley Road.

According to sheriff’s officials, Alfred McOsker was unloading his groceries into his car when his leg touched a newer Hyundai parked next to him.

The car’s owner accused McOsker of scratching his vehicle and then punched the older man repeatedly in the face.

The victim’s daughter, Alison Rennie, said the suspect caused her father to fall and hit his head.

Not worth the beatdown. A typical Ferrari owner would lose a great sum of money if charged with battery.

Anyone that would hit any 79 year old for any reason is a very sick person and needs to be in jail. Ask for insurance papers and file a claim. If they refuse phone in a hit and run.

That's nuts. I was once parked in my 360 waiting for my wife. This really nice older man wearing a WW2 hat came over asking questions about the car. While he was talking to me he leaned on the passenger side door with both hands. It was absolutely killing me, but I didn't have the heart to say anything to him, he was such a nice guy. After he left I popped the trunk and took out speed shine and a cloth and wiped his prints off the door.

Commercial rubbing compound will take it right out. There are a lot of hot tempered people out there, so you always have to be careful when your out. Locally, a couple of years ago there was a late 30s military neurosurgeon that got cut off by a 67 old man. The Dr. then followed him until he was able to corner his truck in, where he dragged him out of his truck and started to beat him severely, he even took the older gentleman's Thermos from his front seat and started to beat him with that.

The Hyundai probably represents more of its owner's net worth than most Ferraris do.

I thought the article was going to say that his cart hit the car. His leg touched the car and scratched it? I don't think so, that scratch was already there.

Crazy story. And for a Hyundai? Guy that punched the old man belongs in an insane asylum.

As for scratches. stone chips happen all the time, whatever you're driving. Best to ignore it and get it touched up at annual service. If you're too worried about scratches it'll take away from the pleasure of taken it out of your garage...

Around the same time period I remember reading about a ER Doc in California that lived on the ocean front. There were bicyclist riding the road that goes in front of his house all the time and he thought it devalued his property. He was pissed off about it all the time and one day he brake checked a group of bicyclist. Three of them hit his car and got seriously hurt.

Everyone is human after all and not all Dr. get in the profession to help people.

That also makes me wonder what other people would do in the situation where that family in NY was confronted with the hoard of bikers.

Run the gits over. Smack, hit, and drive like hell, each time they get near the car, hit another, till they give it up. Wouldn't take a chance that they will calm down, protecting yourself as far as I'm concerned is okay and allowed.

What is it with Ferrari's and Hyundai's? We have another thread on here about a Hyundai driver crashing into and killing a Ferrari driver

I was at a VIP after party last week after a concert, my 360 spider was parked out the front door with some other nice cars. I figured this would be better than buried int he parking lot. When I came out there were 3 girls leaning up against my car taking pics, one was bent over the passenger fender. When I walked up I said "seriously, you would do that to a guys car" and the girls just said it was so beautiful. I did noticed before that they were not doing any damage and had no buckles or items on them that would scratch, but they were shocked when I unlocked the door.

Oh and when I left a very attractive girl in her mind 20's was standing with some other guys and yelled over to me "hey Ferrari guy, your not cool!" lol

At one point I was very concerned, but after driving so many miles I have become a LOT less paranoid about scratches. Besides I have a three year old running around the house and garage - its impossible to avoid anything happening.

It's just a car. Birds, bugs, rock chips, the armadillo that wanders across the road when you're doing 140, etc... I wanted a Ferrari for 60 years, finally got one. I take care of it, but it's just a car....
