Considering both Paul Walker and Rodas were partners in a racing shop venture, they should have known this as well. It still puzzles me that he bought a used CGT with 9 years old tires and never bothered changing them when he had a race shop at his disposal...

I'm pretty sure McLaren trust Erik more than most. He's met with them on several occasions, they even covered his expenses to travel to an event. Erik's status with McLaren is something all enthusiasts should make note of - few have managed to get a foot inside the door and become as recognized as he is. Unless Antar has some secret association with McL that he hasn't mentioned, there's no way he's been told the time by any reputable source.

But look at it this way; if they told every single owner the lap time, it would surely leak. We are talking about 375 people outside the factory. Could 375 keep it quiet? Without any formal agreement (NDA etc.) there's no way. And even with an agreement in place, McLaren's alternatives to enforcing and pursuing any breaches are limited, to say the least...

I think they told Leno off camera, due to his status and history with the brand. But I doubt that every P1 owner who asks will get to know.

I can't find ground clearance numbers for the LaFerrari. Anyone have them?

    My thanks in advance.

There are many easy ways to find out if someone has been told. They could tell us the sum of the single numbers making up the time's minutes and seconds for example, a checksum, and when McLaren will finally tell us we'll find out.

Put your money where your mouth is! ;)

    A couple of quick questions:

    1. Are the motors on all 3 cars AC or DC?
    2. Does the P1 use intercoolers?

Over 4% faster than what they released, to 300.

Will it go that much faster again at the ring? 6:40? ;)

If you think for a second that I make things up, then you're wrong. I can't claim that I have a relationship with McLaren and that Erik and I are very close friends if it weren't the truth.

Oh well, believe whatever makes you feel good. And if you still doubt what I've said, my PM box is empty.

    That's what I thought too.

I never said I know as much as Erik and it's not my "aim" either, because it's pretty impossible for me since he's been aware and interested in McLaren before I was even born.

I don't want to keep comparing myself with him, but I have a relationship with McLaren, they are quite aware of me and there's a constant communication between us.

Why would it be a "secret" association? I've been contacted from McLaren on several occasions as I once mentioned. You didn't believe me back then, so I am not expecting you to now. And the source that told me the time is as McLaren as it gets.

If anyone wants to further question what I've said, my PM box is empty. I'm not willing to get another ban. ;)

That's a pretty good lap time considering that they've only had one go! Can't wait to see them testing the other two.

Yep, read that too. So it's pretty close to Porsche's lap time considering that they're usually 5 to 10s off the manufacturer's claim.

Thanks for replying Mark. You don't need to prove anything to me. I just don't believe you, and I'm not interested in the lap time - it won't make the car any better or worse than it already is.

In point of fact, McLaren's PR strategy remains a total tragedy.

They said that it was very windy during testing and taking that into consideration, 918 is sub 19s to 300 kmh(They speculate around 18 s is possible for a Weissach spec car)

Also, I'm now positive Poesche sandbagged the 6:57 lap

AMS recorded 317 kmh max on Doettinger Hohe vs cca 290 kmh that Mark Lieb did in his record braking lap.

918 achieved 1.65G max on the Ring, it also bested every other car tested by the magazine in slalom speed and evasive manuevering.

Hockenheim was dealt with in 1:06.3.
It is 1 s quicker 200-300 kmh than the P1 as tested by Autocar.
Measured weight is(full tank, all liquids) 1642 kg.
