Strongly Agree... F-Chat is my life, my love, my open heart, the wind beneath my wings... it makes me sing like no one is listening, love like I’ve never been hurt, dance like nobody’s watching, and live like it’s Heaven on Earth.

(Rob told me if I posted that, I'd get lifetime Rossa... so, just waiting now).

I only hang around the 458 forum so not aware that there are actually undesirable characters in some other sub forums. This is the best forum by far!

I quite enjoy this site and although I'm not a owner (yet), I've learned so much more about these cars and it will allow me to know what to look for when the time comes closer to purchase.

The info that's shared amongst owners and car enthusiasts alike, is truly priceless.

I for one, am grateful for this place.

    Thanks for having me here!

    Another Strongly Agree here.

Fun site to visit, but get lots of information, be it about cars or other issues. I've never regretted my Rossa Subscription. I wouldn't own a Ferrari and not be a subscriber to this site.

I tend to read more than I post. Usually can find any information I need. When I do post I get questions answered quickly. I don't go into to many of the forums because I really don't have the time. Pretty useful site in my opinion

Tim Berners - Lee, gave us the worldwide web.

Rob Lay and his pals gave us "Ferrari Chat"

Ferrari gave us something to whinge and go into raptures about.

And, PAP 348 has 70K posts under his belt, Sheeesh!

Thanks Rob, for having the idea in the first place and making it work for everyone's benefit.

I have met many F car enthusiasts with a wealth of information here. Have met many of them in person and have had the great opportunity of driving with them on many drives. Thanks for keeping this site going Bob!

I joined this site a few months before I bought my first Ferrari. It was very helpful with all that I learned and the ability to start a thread and ask questions. It has continued to be extremely helpful after I purchased my Ferrari.

However, at the time I bought the car, someone posted that I should now get a paid subscription. So I signed up for the Silver Subscribed Private Forum thinking there was all this extra special Ferrari info there that wasn't available in the free forums. Well I think I can safely say that in the last 9 months I have been a subscriber, there have been 0 (zero) threads about Ferraris. As an example here are the last few current threads -

    Dominatrix Convention in LA

34 Valedictorians in High School class

    Pronunciation of exotic car names

    Any Pediatric Dentists Here?

    New Domino's?

What did you do TODAY no one else here did?

If these subjects are of interest to you, by all means join. For a while I found myself wasting a lot time reading these things. Also it is rather cliqueish there so you have to spend quite some time there to become one of the in crowd.

I will say occasionally there is an informative thread, but not about Ferraris. Also if you have a problem in your life and need advice, people do rush to help you. I guess that's worth the price of admission, but I don't know if I will renew this August. I'm sure I'll get trashed for this, but Rob asked, and I feel how I feel, and I can't change that. ;)

There's a lot to earn from the Ferrari model sections (F430, 458 etc etc).
People don't need the silver forum to announce a Ferrari purchase imo.
Why should I post an "Fcar issue" on the silver forum? I'll post it on the F430 section.
Trust me, those sections are enough.
The silver is just an extra - I personally would like to post my stuff there because it's private.
What kind of "extra info" were you searching for on the Silver?? That IS the question ;)

Not being a Ferrari owner, I seldom post, but I am a devoted member. Why? Because, uniquely among the automotive fora that I frequent, FChat consistently entertains and educates me. The restoration and project threads are the best to be found, and I have learned a lot about automotive restoration that is applicable to any marque.

Even better are the controversy threads - the years-long discussion about 0846 is the epitome. The drama, the pathos, the arrogance, the humility, the personalities: these threads offer it all and more. In many cases reading them is like reading a novel. The story of Karl Kleve and Jaques Swaters and the Ferrari couldn't be made up.

I'll never own a Ferrari, I just do not have the means, but I love cars and Ferrari is by far the most compelling car brand that has ever existed. I do not use FChat to experience vicariously what it would be like to have one - I really don't need that - but it does permit me to participate in a vital, entertaining, educational, outrageous community about a subject that I enjoy.

    Thanks

    George.

I am with you. I subscribe because Rob Lay is a friend but now deliberately stay out of Silver. I don't mind the fun, frolic and non sequitur. But I've seen some real hatefulness and too much ignorant "fire, ready, aim" in postings. And as I often say the problem with mud wrestling a pig is that the pig likes it.

This is my first and only online forum, so it took a little while to get used to the tone and tempo of things; who was sincere and helpful, what to ask, how to search for answers before I did, and who seemed to be busier yanking chains and stirring up others than talking about cars.

My thoughts are a lot like Art's - lots of great people, a few oddballs (IMHO) and a few people I'm glad appeared and then disappeared shortly thereafter. Some people have been truly outstanding in their help when asked about issues with my car or dealing with Ferrari dealers, etc. Others are pretty funny (intentionally) and entertaining (possibly not intentionally). Some of the threads have been epic, and I have wasted many hours reading them like the soap opera some of them become. I do keep in mind that I can always log off if I don't agree with something, too.

To my wife's chagrin, though, she has learned that I can not only discuss fast cars, but that I can also discuss Scotch with others who enjoy the finer things. She keeps saying something about boys and their toys, but I'm too busy typing to remember what that was...

Enjoy learning more about my car on this site, I generally stick to the 355 section and hit parts and technical too when I have a chance, normally check in once a day.

Thanks, the presence of this site and members have enhanced my owners experience.

Agree, there is a wealth of knowledge on the forums and great camaraderie amongst the Ferrari community in general.
I don't really read too much of the Silver Subscribed threads either for the above reasons. There does seem to be a strange clique where it seems you are ignored if you aren't a gazillion poster. Haven't seen that on other forums. Some personalities can be quite strong, but hey it's free speech.
I am addicted to the forum and have learned a lot through select threads.

yes, Silver is certainly an Off Topic section, but you won't get banned if you start an On Topic thread. :) I don't know if I need to make that more clear. Many users find value in the *private* Off Topic, Business & Investments, and Politics & Religion. The only subscribed Ferrari section is Owners and although it is the most private and personal, it is not very active.

Subscriptions aren't just about the private forums though, they provide Classifieds posting, unlimited images, larger PM box, and a few profile things.
