Yeah, I was a bit worried about the speedo before taking delivery and then relieved when I discovered the digital speed readout. The speedo markings are simply scaled down too far due to the high top end.

Did not know about your 3rd gear/mph trick but it likely does not apply to the California… and we also use kph scales here. But maybe 2nd gear correlates to kph - will check later today. ;)

This is the Yellow Rev techometer on my Speciale.
Am so glad I chose Yellow, the colour inspires 'Ferrari'.

The lights are back-lit through the numbers all the time when the car is running and you cannot really see much of the Yellow when lit as you can see from the picture insert. I have no issues reading the Revs within the deep tunnel design of the 458 compared to the 430 and 360. This should apply the same for all the other colors as well so no worries for a coupe about which color might be a problem although I am not sure of the Spider.

I had Yellow on the Cali and now Red on the 458 Spider. I don't like the look of the Red at all especially in low light as you can barely see it.
Readability is the worst I have seen on a rev counter to be honest.

I would only go for Yellow, White, Black

I chose black for my 360, again for my Cali and yet again for my 458 spider.

Easy to read day or night.

I would choose the Yellow one for a red Fcar.
I have a red one on mine - it's a little bit boring for a white F430 with Rosso Cartier interior.

I have yellow on my 458 spider. Easy to read and matches steering wheel insignia.

I had a black tach on my red 360 Spider. Bought a Ricambi yellow tach face plate and loved it.

My red 458 Spider has a yellow tach. Love it.

I'm in the process of spec'ing a Rosso Spider, and struggling with this very issue. My problem with the yellow tach is the same as the one many have expressed with yellow calipers. It's a *different* yellow from the center emblem on the wheel, and that really bugs me.

I'm actually now leaning towards black calipers and a black rev counter. My theory is that both options shift the visual focus back to the Ferrari emblem in the center of the wheels, which in my opinion is where it should be. At the risk of this thread devolving into a caliper color discussion, I really hope I'm making the right decision!

One other thing about the black rev counter is the white lettering against a black background matches the LCD screens.

Having owned several yellow Ferraris I can tell you with absolute certainty that the yellow shields do not match the yellow center caps that don't match the yellow tach face.......and none of the above match the yellow body color .

Just gotta deal with it as they say :D

My 458 has Red, my 430 was Yellow. I think they both look great.

You are overthinking it. It really doesn't matter. ( I had yellow tach on Italia and was disappointed. Going black on Speciale after seeing it on Frankfurt car).

Here is how mine actually looks without photoshop with the ignition on... the way it should be.

The script lights up from behind and the gauge appears darker with a slight hint of yellow hue...sexy combo.

Not everyone's cup of tea but certainly is mine.

I ordered Yellow on mine. I think a super car should have a tach that "pops" and should not look like one in an ordinary car.

White is the best, but needs extra $$$. Others are free of charge.

What in particular left you disappointed with the yellow tach?
