Just got my QA-1 shocks and springs. My God they look good!....and Verells goodies too, of course. Wondering what ride height some of you guys might have found to work well? (and where you measured from) Mine's a '76 'glass car FWIW.
Wheel and tire size matters too. Even with 400/350 pound springs and 22 mm bars F/R, I was catching the right front tire on the fender lip, so I raised it back up, the same number of "notches" on the spring perch nuts, (R and L), so I wouldn't ruin the corner balance. chris
I rolled my fender lips (front). GT4 stock wheels have more offset than the Superformance repros, so they grabbed...
Peter, I'll have to measure mine and get back to you. I'm looking at some of my pictures and I don't see anything with a tape measure. Here's a couple of pictures if it helps somewhat. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Chris. If you can measure from the top of the centre yellow cap to the guard that would be very helpful. Nice wheels!
I changed out the modified konis that came on my '84 QV with QA-1's over the winter, and it's made a world of difference. I went with the Eibach springs, 300/350. I set up the ride height at 90mm front (measured from the frame to the ground just forward of the lower a-arm mount), and 150mm at rear (measured from the frame where the rear sway bar mount is). The springs did settle about 10mm or so after a couple of weeks, so had to re-adjust. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Peter, this is the best I can do. Hope it helps. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have the optional 14 x 7 wheels with XWXs. I also have a set of 328 wheels, but stopped using them ages ago. Thanks! And you find that a good set up (probably an obvious answer to that)
So far. I got a couple of nice winding roads that I tested before I settled with this setting. You got the 2 wrenches to adjust the shocks/springs?
I am in the throes of organising to lower my car (Euro GTB qv)a touch also. Pizzaman has his looking great, I think, although the Collingwood emblem is deliberately provocative. I have had the Konis dynoed and they come up fine. The shock man says there is plenty of adjustment left in rebound for stiffer springs, so I am planning to machine new lower perches and fit Eibach springs over the Konis. I notice that the consensus view seems to be that one wants springs 50lbs stiffer on the front. This would make the ride frequencies approximately the same front and rear. The conventional road car suspension wisdom would be that this would lead to excessive pitch going over bumps as the rear suspension never catches up to the front. My reading is that the rear frequency wants to be ~10% higher than the front. I calculate factory to be around 7.8% higher at the rear. Comments?

Springs, bars and corner heights determin the corner weights and weight transfer. The shock is used to control the time for reb/ comp, weight transfer at a given load.
Well, I've driven it a few times now, and I'm very happy with it. The ride is still compliant and body roll is eliminated.....at least at the speeds I've done so far. 3,000km drive coming up soon.....can't wait.
