So what's up with "Consultant" under a person's username?
It is an old usergroup we have been intending to transition out for awhile. A little complex because everyone in Consultant will be spread into about 5-6 existing usergroups based on SME area, activity, etc. No one has been added to Consultant in maybe 5+ years. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/rossa-subscribed-private-forum/352603-consultant-group-cleanup.html
Transition? You are the webmaster , I think a key stroke could effect your transition much more efficiently. Your "consultants" are hardly posting in that capacity Mr. Lay .
I would love to hear more about what you mean. We have 48 Consultants and they have 386,851 posts among them, over 8,000 per user. It honestly isn't a big priority, it was a good program 10+ years ago, but things have changed. Are the 50 that were identified as Consultants 5-10 years ago the exact same ones that would get Consultant today? No, but for the most part these are good users and I need to make sure they land where they should.
A consultant to me implies someone who offers constructive advice and or communication to the group. You have "consultants" who label Rossa subscribed members as " delusional" and aren't censored or removed of their consultant pedigree. If you aren't aware of this behavior then I suggest you improve your vigilance of your site of stop pandering to your long time posters and pay attention to your new paying members as much as you do them. This is the second time I have offered a critical improvement to your site. The last time it was outright ignored. I expect nothing more this time either. Do some homework Rob.
you are way way off base here, but maybe it is in your abrasive nature. instead of sending me a PM/email or at least posting in this thread in a constructive manner, you immediately went on the attack. that is NOT how the good users of our community behave. sorry there are a couple consultants you don't like some of their posts. where was it ever said a Consultant only posts about their expertise they receive the Consultant title for and can NEVER post about anything else? Are most of the posts you are concerned about in the Politics & Religion section, the one that says "not for the faint of heart" in title? just like myself and the moderator team, Consultants are users first. they all earned Consultant for being experts in particular areas that were of benefit to other users and FerrariChat. For example, Art is a great lawyer on top of being an ex-pro racer and long time Ferrari enthusiast. Art has helped numerous users over the years including FerrariChat with legal matters. Also keep in mind it doesn't matter if user is Moderator, Consultant, Honorary, etc. You break rules, you get moderated! I guarantee you there are a few Consultants with extensive moderation histories and there may have even been some in past perm banned.
Rob, with all due respect, I know Bob personally and he's not abrasive at all, he's a great guy. Some of the "consultants" offer zero assitance and I don't feel they are experts at all. On the other hand, some are very helpful and appreciated by me and others.
Wholly , put the bat down. You can PM Rob, he will hear you out. The consultants here are pretty good guys, as are the moderators. Nothing is ever perfect, but the site has been constant and effective for a few years. I'm sure if you hang for a while longer you will see for yourself. Cheers.
The Consultant list had a great implementation and was value adding 5-10+ years ago, but has not been maintained as I admitted and I have an entire thread in Rossa and Mod forum working through complexities of making things right.
Hey rob. Do a little research into your "consultants". Nothing I said was incorrect or off base. I only stated the facts. If you want to get defensive about your site that is your prerogative. You have " consultants" who have that title who are posting in a non contributory manner and all your defense to the contrary won't chant that.
Big red. I have berm here s bit over a year and have been active on the site. I am aware of those who contribute value and those who don't. I have also pm d rob on a matter in which I felt a valuable change could be made to the credentials of members and was stone walled so you don't know of what you speak.
I have not received a PM or email from you about this, why don't you do that? Are you just trying to stir the pot creating drama instead of a true desire to improve anything you think is wrong? Send me the names, we have 48 Consultants and most of them have been active today and posted several times.
Rob. I pm'd you in the past on another matter. Wasn't worth the effort It's your site. Do as you like.
I beg your pardon, you Being here a bit over a year vs my 10 yrs plus gives me much more background and history / contact of the characters in this play. Given that you will probably be in the smallest of % in the minority on your views once this thread hits page 10 , you will see for yourself you maybe off a bit. As mentioned, there is always room for improvement , but don't let a very small piece of the puzzle ruin your fun.
On January 12th, 2014 (my birthday) you sent a PM. So basically drbob101 wants to put CLEAR labels on every user if they are an owner or not instead of the way we've always done it user profile, garage link, and owner's forum. This passionate and argumentative call for change came just 13 months after drbob101 became a user and now 4 months later he wants to attack FerrariChat because we didn't make the change.
Big red. Ten years vs. one year doesn't mean that I haven't been around the block as well. My fun or enjoyment of the site is unrelated to this discussion. I have not said anything that isn't true or accurate. It is what it is.
Are you kidding Rob. This is how you treat paying members to your site? Really? This discussion here and now is about your "consultants". Period. I mentioned why I didn't choose to talk to you in a pm because you chose to ignore me. Really? Why would I go down that road a second time ? It was futile. As this will be also. Your birthday? Really? Sorry about that Rob.
I am always open to suggestions, you can see in all my responses to your Owner label suggestion that I was polite and offered as many alternatives and work arounds as I could. Just because you suggest something doesn't mean we're going to implement it or at least right away! We have 140,000 users and maybe giving you the benefit side of a guess, I can think of maybe 5 users that maybe suggested something similar. I can guarantee you that 99%+ of owners don't care about there being ANOTHER label on their header that they are an Owner. I can guarantee you that 100% of moderators don't want to manage owner verifications (lies, paperwork, selling Ferrari later) for 30-50,000 users! I can guarantee you 99%+ of nonowners who are often more enthusiasts and knowledgeable than owners and on the path to owning themselves want to be considered 3rd class citizens in our community! If there is ever someone lying in posts or mislead, then the mod team needs to know about it! The Moderators and especially the Silver and Rossa FChat Police threads eat that stuff up.
Don't put so much emphasis on titles, read the thread and if it is of value, great, if not ignore it. Don't get so wrapped up over a title or level that a subscriber is listed at. It's like money, it's just ink on paper.
Hi - As indicated in the second post, which was in reply to the initial query, the transition will be taking place at some point in time. It's not going to be a single keystroke, as we don't want anyone to have a stroke. While the mindset is indeed that All Members are Members First, and there are titles, however fanciful or humble which remain secondary. Yet, for some, transitioning to a different Usergroup from Consultant *may* mean TITLE, Title or title. Such being the case, if you think you see drama or real colors under current naming convention, imagine the Drama and Colorful language with change made in haste. Better to "waste" time, than let haste make waste. "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong." - H.L. Mencken
you are one entitled piece of work. first you want to be labeled more special with "Owner" and then you want to be treated extra special because you are Subscribed? Subscribed gives you a bunch of community benefits (profile, signature, classified, private forums, more image posting, owners forum, etc), IT DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE ENTITLEMENT TO BE TREATED BETTER THAN EQUAL! Although my 40th, doesn't matter, I might have been slightly delayed in response. I work on FerrariChat 365 days a year, doesn't matter if it is my 40th.
Let's make this clear here and now as well. Anything you say to Rob Lay in a private message is subject to public disclosure at any time at his discretion. Shame on you Mr Lay!
You should stop now, you are self imploding! You are getting beat up with reason and facts, so all you can do is sling mud in response. Man, count to 10 like I tell my 7 year old, you are making yourself look worse with every post.
She's 7? She was just 3 a few minutes ago, man! You know what else is funny, WAR made some really laid-back funk music.
