Hello everyone, hoping to get some insite from this whole community on an issue I am having with my new to me 1990 Ferrari 348 ts. I purchase car last fall, over the winter I pulled the engine and transaxle replaced timing belt and tensioners, head gaskets etc. I checked the water pump and there were no leaks or bearing looseness so I made the choice to not replace(there were no noises before pulling engine) Now after bringing car out in the spring the first run up the road and back was good no noises issues, now after roughly 25 miles there has developed a squeal or high pitched whistle when revved over 2000 rpms, sometimes there is an intermittent squeal at startup, but at static idle there are no noises. Basically only when revved over 2000 rpm. I have removed belt from alternator and ran it briefly with the noise still starting above 2000 rpm, I have also removed belt from A/C condenser and started the car and the noise appears after 2000 rpm again. I am wondering if anyone has ever experienced the bearing going on a waterpump and causing it to whistle at higher rpm's. I have no problem pulling engine again if that is what it takes, just somewhat surprised the water pump felt fine and now seems to have failed? Any help from this community would be great.

Have you checked to make sure all your vacuum lines are connected on the plenum??? There is a distinct difference between a belt squeal and a vacuum leak whistle.

The other thing you can do is pull the inspection caps off the cam belt covers and have a look at the belt for signs of the belt getting burned. Also make sure the belt "anti-jump"/shoes (under the covers) are not riding on top of the belt. They should have at least a 1mm gap between them and the top of the belt.

I have pulled the inspection covers off and it looks like the anti jump shoes are rubbing on the belt, I will adjust them and also check for vacuum leaks thanks for the help.

I modified, and adjusted the anti jump shoes, re-installed and ran the car out on the road for probably 10 miles, all squeals are fixed and gone, thanks to everyone who posted and helped me out.
