Just waiting.....curious....does it run already?
Very close. I had to spend the majority of the weekend getting the house ready for market, so I didn't make much progress recently. I got the headers bolted up, filled up the oil. Probably only one more day's worth of work.
Got the exhaust on finally. I had a hell of a time finding the exhaust gaskets that were the right size locally though, so I had to order some. Bleed the brakes and clutch tomorrow and wrap up a few other small things and it will be ready for test-fire. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
So I had to take a little detour here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/449121-348-throttle-cable-replacement-problem.html I finally got the new cable in place roughly. Still have a small bit to do, but the hard stuff is over. Then just hook up some wires and throw in some fluids and I will be good to go. HOPEFULLY (fingers crossed)
I'd be very interested to know the supplier and part numbers for those exhaust gaskets. I have a plan to do a similar exhaust system and it would help if I had all the right parts on hand at the start. Thanks
Officially running as of now. Still need to button it up, but it started up, ran smoothly. This is the gasket I used: Amazon.com: Fel-Pro 60155 Gasket: Automotive
Got the brakes and clutch bled. Did a very short test drive down the road. It isn't road ready yet, but by this weekend, it will be set for a full drive. Now it is all minor stuff like the bumper, engine bay lid, center console wheel liners. Lots of checking of fluids and for leaks.
The exhaust is from here: Exhaust Parts for Ferrari 348 - Superformance It sounds good. I haven't had it wide open yet, so I don't know about top end, but it is pleasing so far. Louder than the stock system of course, but not annoying at all. I'm quite happy with it.
Seems my alternator was bad, so I am now waiting for a replacement. Should be here in the next day or two. Then I will get some video. Turns out 9V isn't enough to run a car. Luckily, I was only 1 mile from home, so it was a short walk back to get my truck to recharge the battery.
I would recommend changing the alternator to one from a Daewoo Lanos if you have trouble with it burning... It takes only small modifications to mount and is much stronger build
Do you have a part# handy? What needs to be modified? The Alt or the car? This time around, I am sticking with the direct replacement as I already ordered it and should be here tomorrow.
Amazon.com: Db Electrical Adr0258 Alternator For Daewoo Lanos 1.5L & 1.6L 98 99 00 01 02: Automotive This one - it takes a small bracket - the rim has to have a 4 mm spacer and a bit of drilling... Mounting time is about an hour
Got it out a good bit yesterday, and took it in to work today (43 miles). Runs like a champ. I am officially declaring the 30k service completed. Total cost was right around $1100, not including the exhaust upgrade.
It's been a while, moved and changed jobs and all sorts of stuff. But today I got a set of 360 "starfish" wheels back from powdercoat and mounting and got them on the car. Please excuse the poor photo work. It is raining here now, so I had limited resources. Compared to the stock chromed wheels, I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. yeah, I really wanted that plate, considering it was one of the last analogue cars in that era. I've got a long way to save her, but it will happen. There are few cars I really love, this is one.
scrapped that project for now. Looking for aftermarket/alternate seats. Not sure what I'll get, but not going to keep the stock ones. I just don't care for them, and they are so heavy and I don't quite fit in them well. Just barely, but enough to make it annoying.
