In the meanwhile McLaren has not enough financial capabilities to invest in proper interactive banner advertisements. If you buy a 650S or a P1 (unfortunately the 12C was so superior that McLaren had to push him out from the market so early with an own car) you get some discount if you obligate yourself to attack all the Ferrari-forums on the web... ;)

I have to agree with you on that. I have learned about the appalling treatment of first time buyers in the US only through F chat. Fortunately in Dubai any one can order any ferrari brand new. The flip side is that they take a huge depreciation hit like all other luxury or sports cars here. But paying $50k over sticker or having to buy used cars that you don't really want (to move up list) is just ridiculous imo. I can safely say that I would be a lambo or mclaren customer today instead of ferrari if conditions were like that here.

Lambo buyers are usually not too concerned with track performance.

They want their cars to look good sound good drive good(on the streets not track) and to arrive in style.

So all these track tests or guys saying the 458 is better on the track, makes little difference to Lambo buyers.

The Huracan needs to go on a diet, first. Also the built in understeer plus the electric nanny features all contribute to a more benign experience than say the Speciale whose middle name appears to be 'oversteer' first and foremost. To be fair the Huracan is at the beginning of its evolution which will see other more focused versions follow. However the Huracan exterior design appears as 'safe' rather than bold. The Ferrari Speciale body design didn't really go far enough with their efforts considering the all new engineering hidden in the simple refresh of the Italia design. As the Ferrari engineers stated it is a new car but I would say the visuals don't really make it very obvious what they have engineered this time.
The Huracan seems to have smoothed some rough edges but that refinement may make the later versions of the car more desirable.

Is the huracan now running a dct? Or is it the single clutch sys as in the aventador.
In my decision of buying a car my options at the time were the 458,superleggera or mp4.
Drove all and my impressions were as follows

458- best sounding. Made me feel like I was driving an exotic Car. Love the interior.
Lambo- gear shifts were terribly slow..I couldn't stand that at all. Looked great, but drove like crap.
MP4- way too refined. Almost too easy and comfortable. Not the experience you want when buying an exotic. Also interior was not nice.

On the huracan.. I love the looks but have been scarred by the way the SL drove. Too late now anyway as I've bought the italia and love It.

650s. Front end looks absolutely great. All other angles are 'bleh', interior still bland. More power which is always good.. Not sure if more 'soul' though.

All in all, I still feel that out of all the cars in this segment, that the 458 has it won.
Huracan could still be a close competitor but only if they've sorted the gearbox. As someone said, most buyers don't care about track times. It's the experience and the feel, and I love the feeling I get in the 458.

Yes, they have finally given it a DCT. But it will share that DCT and essentially the same engine slightly detuned with the R8.

The built in understeer adds a margin of safety for the average/novice buyer.

Eh, how many Gallardos and 458s actually crash due to oversteer? 1%?

I call bull**** on the whole "made it more understeer to make it safer." Oversteer was never an issue in Gallardo in the first place, even for novice buyers. The car is super easy to drive and catch if it got out of hand. In fact, it and the R8 are probably some of the easiest cars to drive in recent memory.

    What they say at CAR>

For some reason only Ferrari sets its cars up to encourage you to explore the limits, and makes those limits accessible, even to drivers with modest talents.

You really have to be trying hard to find out what’s behind the Huracan’s fun, but efficiency-over-exhuberence, grip-and-go veneer.

In fact, get past the understeer (we’d upgrade the P Zeros to Corsas immediately) and what's there is a nicely balanced car, and easing back on the gas mid corner tightens your line perfectly, allowing you to get back on the throttle and exit in a lovely neutral stance. We can understand that your average Asian millionaire isn’t going to be an F1-star in waiting, but why is even an R8 (from understeer kings, Audi) more oversteery?

I've never experienced understeer on a normal road. I think that's why it's fine for the Gallardo to have understeer. There just aren't enough situations where you can experience oversteer unless you are just trying to drift it.

You have to be going faster than is comfortable in the majority of situations. On a road car, I'll take understeer in the event that I do need a safety net and ignore the oversteer possibilities because the situations have largely been non-existent in the real word.

    Mine should be arriving soon.

I bought it for city / formal outing / event type things, not for track days. It's a "show car" w enough kick and sound to still eek out the schoolgirl giggle in me on the roads. The Volkswagen with all its new tech and digital-age fancy pants stuff will be a very nice and contrasting compliment to my Fiat scuderia & abarth.

I sure you'll have a lot of fun with it. You have the right perspective on it. If I had a unlimited money, I'd get one too to sit next to my Italia.

I think look-wise the Huracan is a huge improvement over the Gallardo. They seemed to have drawn cleaner lines while adding the right amount of aggression.

call us when you wake up a car that has not even hit the road to the public and the reviews have not been exactly stellar, don't seem to recall anything but praise when the 458 arrived.

I think the Huracan rear leaves something to be desired. Looks porky and bloated in pics and doesn't harmonize with the other 3/4 of the car. Plus driver rear visibility looks compromised. Will have to see in the flesh to make final judgement. Hope VW makes a RWD Huracan hard-top spyder. Especially if 458 replacement goes TT.

Anyhow no rush, Huracan will prolly have a 10 year run with myriad iterations. I've lost count of how many Gallardo variants there are.

I haven't read a single post here. Just wanted to LOL at the thought of the Huracan being an Italia beater.

I'm not a Ferrari fanboy that's blind to other products (MP412C is an Italia "beater" if number are what float your boat) but the idea of what amounts to an extensively warmed over 10 year old platform being an Italia beater is hilarious.

That said, I think they nailed it with the Huracan's styling.
