Tidying up some projects. One is a leaky washer pump/reservoir. Turns out Advanced Auto Parts sells an almost exact copy but better fitting solution using a grommet instead of a flat washer and compression ring to hold it. That ring by the way comes off inside and is a b$&@tch to put back on.
Now just put in the grommet and press fit in the pump. Same electrical and plumbing connectors. Think I will clean up the bracket while in there.[IMG][IMG]

    Crowndog,
Nice find and work as usual man!
Now tell me... Does a 328 run the same pump on its reservoir?
    Just thought I'd ask

    Thanks.
Some 328s do but I am not sure when it switched over to a different water reservoir and possibly different pump. Early 328s pretty sure yes. ABS probably not.

Hey Robert, good find. Are you going to put that in the parts exchange sticky?

I cross referenced this and it is only around $12.00 at Advance Auto and O'Reilly (which has it under the Trico brand).

Parts counter guys around here need what vehicle it fits or they don't know how to look it up! If you say Ferrari they get kind of skitterish.

If you just tell them you need a windshield washer pump for a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, it will work out much better.

I just realized my car has is missing the windshield washer bottle and motor. Do they come out when the spare is removed? Either way I am glad to know where to get the pump. Just need the bottle to go with it! The wire and tube is just hanging there.

    Thanks

Thanks and I will post it. My counter guy took me back to the racks when I told him it was for a Ferrari. There were about a dozen different pumps but this one just stuck out as the only one with a white pump body. I couldn't believe it and it mounts the way I was going to remount a new one being that it's almost impossible to get that ring on from the inside. The motor is also a little more robust. Had to re-aim the spray so it didn't shoot over the car.

Awesome! Will pick one up soon. My bottle is great but the pump is awful. Thanks for posting.

    Ha! Another Jeep part!

Honestly, it's such a hoot finding stuff like this. A $12 jeep part vs a $60 or more Ferrtaxed part. The other half of the fun is posting it for everyone.

I just had to replace my washer pump, and found this thread extremely helpful! Thanks Robert :)

I found the pump at oreilly (using the part number from your picture), but they had the Trico version. So I am posting the picture of the one I bought in case that can be helpful too. The trico version was mentioned by another poster, but a picture is always nice.

Nicely done. Don't think I've ever used my washer pump, but love these small attentions to maintenance.

I never used mine either (who would drive a 308 on salt laden roads?), but apparently the washer pump is now an integral part of passing MA state car inspection.... ugh

Does anyone know where to find a replacement plug that fits the perpendicular spades of the electric motor? My plug is brittle, cracked, and one of the wires has come lose. Want to cut old one off and replace if it's easy to find... Quick searches not been easy, but maybe not looking in the right place. Maybe we need the Jeep harness that goes to the replacement motor...?
