It's too early for me to tell, and both cars need to be run in, but I'll get back to you on this. On the sound question, the Speciale doesn't sound great at low revs though.

Both look great. Does the 650 have exhaust-valves like the Speciale does? If the exhaust is always open it should sound better at low rpm.

Love them both..The competition can only be good, hopefully this challenge will motivate Ferrari to make the 458 successor amazing...

I have a 12C spider with the Sport Exhaust, while I agree not quite as visceral as a Tubi equipped Ferrari screaming at 8500 rpms, the 3.8L TT engine does have a unique sound to its own and for me, very rewarding. I think McLaren and all the third parties have done about as much as they can with the sound, the turbo's just mute the full impact of the engine. Will be interesting to hear the Ferrari Turbo's in the future and see if they can keep that distinctive billion $$ exhaust note. BTW, try getting some sound out of a Porsche TT, now there is your Honda :)

No valves on the 650S that I can hear.

McLaren did not include the exhaust valves on all 12Cs from mid 2012 onwards because earlier adopters feedback that the cars were too quiet.

Evo as the first UK publication has a supertest (incl. track test at Anglesey) of the Speciale v 650S v 991 GT3. It's on the app now.

Looks like I misread the test. (The app is confusing at times). They did a test if all three cars but the Speciale is the only one they tested on track...

But it says they will start doing "benchmark" testing ot cars there so the 650S is sure to return.
