rather have this than a 355 at over 60K, this is a steal and easier and cheaper to maintain. I think its a 50K car.

Let's see if capitalism rules the day: many prospective buyers...limited supply.....perceived low market price....

The price has been set on this car. The best thing for the seller to do is to proceed with the sale even in light of high demand.

GTS's also tend to be higher.

I think the mileage (54,000) factors in. Price is fair.

1/5 as many 328 GTBs as 328 GTSs. GTBs should, in the end, command a higher price.

I can't say for 328's, but in my hunt for a 308 I found the B's to fetch a premium over the S.

The asking price resulted in a line around the corner to buy the car. That tells me the price is a little on the low side.

Without a PPI it is hard to say if the asking price is right, it actually could be too high.

Yes GTB's go command a higher price. However, as stated before mileage is high the sweet spot is 25-35K.

Also Black is the second color preference to Red. Ball park 5-10% less.

Also original paint vs a respray affects price.

In the end the true market value of something is defined as the valve one is willing pay and another is willing to accept in a reasonable time period that similar items are sold.

Having several interested parties than the price is pretty much correct. However, interest is one thing having a cashiers check in hand is another.

Hopefully we will continue to be updated on the PPI and still we may never know if the cars sold for the asking price or less.

Add up the prices of cracked seals, debugging the electrics, fixing the a/c, possible console switch replacement (worst case), stone chips, possible fuel injection system issue (hard start), last timing belt-related service 4 years ago, and I think the seller priced it fairly and honestly.

I could easily see $8K-$10K going into the car when the new owner takes over.

I think $15k in deferred maintenance and dialing in will be right with this car based on the pics. We don't know what the asking is because it's not stated here. That said, I stand by my previous statement as far as where the car should be priced.

I am an active buyer but market seems a little twitchy to me right now ... i have watched several cars on this forum get marked sold only to come back up a few days later .. same thing on ebay ... as they say there's many a slip twixt the email and the check ..

Guys, I understand a deal is not done until money trades hands. And I understand this car will need some work. I'm only justifying the price based on 1) what I have seen in the market, and 2) the response to the $43k asking price.

When you put something up for sale and the response is silence, then that tells you something.

When you put something up for sale and the response is a list of people showing interest in buying it, that tells you something else.

If the OP had listed this car at whatever price and got one response, then that would tell me the asking price was either a little on the high side or just right. But that's not the response he got. He got several people (known members here, not internet strangers) to show interest.

I just don't get why people are fighting what the market is telling them. All this talking down of the value of the car with the response the OP got is frankly a whole bunch of BS.

I'll wait until the sale closes to pass final judgement but I reserve the right to say I told you so.

Looks like a great deal even with the high-ish mileage and paint issues. That new interior really adds some value as they are not cheap to do.

The thing that amuses me is that prospective buyers/commenters expect a car to be perfect at average market price and think they should be able to further discount the price for all of the items that need to be addressed. These cars are old, and almost all of them will need a bunch if work. Much of it optional, but still needed (seals, hoses, bushings, ect.). A perfect car, with everything ready to go and all maintenance taken care of will be a way more than mid $40's. In the end, average market price gets you an average car that will need a bunch of things done to make it 100%.

+1 and we see posts wondering why 3x8's don't get the respect and values that some "lesser" Porsches are attracting. Just sayin'. Jon

The PPI is tomorrow at an F-chatters repair/service shop in Indy. I still believe 43k is the correct price for this car and I feel it's only right that it goes to another F-Chatter (call Me crazy)

Well, I assume it won't go for more than the asking price. And after the PPI, will the first person on the list stay on the list or pass?

There's a red/tan 88 with history of an accident for sale in the FCA classifieds listed at $47,000. It's been for sale for several months now. That tells me $47,000 is too high for a 328 with accident history.

FWIW, I will be doing the PPI on this vehicle, I have never seen it before so cannot comment yet.

I will say this, 2 of my customers have sold 328s in the past two weeks, I replaced belts on a nice 88.5, sold to first in line over 48K. Second, an 86 sold at asking price of 45, buyer and seller splitting a full service before shipment. Both had several holding to buy, including a dealership, at asking price. This vehicle seems to have the same scenario albeit a 'B'.

Very neat color, I hope the buyer and seller both walk away from the deal feeling happy. The way the sale is going, it seems that will be the case.

The buyer is happy with the PPI and the asking price so consider the car sold.
