Buy the F type if you want a sports car, nuy the XK if you want a GT. Don't listen to the same old guy bashing jags and range rovers spiel, I've had a whole string of jags since the mid 80's including every XJR and XKR except for the latest one. These cars are great cars, especially after 1990. For earlier models you need to look under the hood and check fluids regularly, you just can't treat them like a toyota.

Just looked at the new F type R coupe yesterday at Hornburg in Santa Monica, its a fantastic vehicle compared to the competition. Reliability on modern jags is not an issue like it was in the previous century. These guys have upped their game, the sound is worth the entry fee.

Took my F Type V8S convertible on a four day, 2000 mile road trip (996 miles yesterday alone) and it performed flawlessly. Not a squeak or rattle to be heard. A 2000 mile stretch doesn't speak to long term reliability but I don't think I ever had a Ferrari go that far without some minor issue or another popping up. :)

One of the few jags that's interest me, and the exhaust note is more musclecar than euro exotic. How is the legroom on these. I have heard there is. It a lot of seat travel.

at 6-4, I sit better in the coupe than the drop head. the coupe is fine...a bit cramped compared to a 997 but comfy enough.

I could not get comfy in the drop head.

What specific Jaguar would you have for an *extremely reliable* Daily Driver?

    * One that you could own and enjoy almost mindlessly.

I've got a '72 XKE V12, a 1997 XK8 convert and a 2011 XF-Supercharged. All are great cars and have been as realiable as any car. The 1997 model all had a problem with chain guides and need to be done to prevent BIG problem. After that, great car. Most Jag owners take their Jags to people that have NO business working on them, including some dealers. THAT is the problem with Jags.

The XF Supercharged is 470 HP worth of an incredibly fast and comfortable car....It is as "extremely realiable" as any car out there and quality to boot.

According to the latest JD Powers survey on initial quality, Jaguar came in second behind Porsche and ahead of Lexus with the fewest number of defects in the first 90 days of ownership. (Fiat and Jeep came in last).

XKR. It's an elegant GT, while the F is just a loud wannabe sports car. For a sports car it's way too heavy.

Just my two cents, I love my XKR.
