458 launch control

I don't know about spencer597.I myself have been offended by some people on this site.I wish we would keep to the topic.I work to enjoy the things in life and like to come to a place with other people like myself who enjoy their cars.I can't have much of a disscussion with my wife about my Ferrari so I count on you guys.Lets play nice.You don't know who are behind many of the screen names and I would treat everyone equally.

 

Now we get where the attitude comes from...you are the under achiever in the family... thanks for clearing that up for us.

Yep I agree that is why I do not like being referred to as a Wannabe whether directed at me or not I find this type of blanket insult offensive.

 

I leave for Vegas in the morning or I would try the Power Start Button.I had a 997 Turbo
that had a Press the brake,Step on the gas Power Launch.I could never get it to go correctly on a quick take off.I'm dying to try the button on the 458.

In aussie we often ask ... What the fu## do I do to fix this, it offends no one I would have thought that you fellows would be on a superb high now that the HAS BIN is trashed.

From what has been said so far I think the 458 launch system is the same as on the Scud.
I tried it a few times as described in the manual and all I got was uncontrolled wheel spin.
One day I bumped into a Ferrari tec. guy and asked why it didn't work. He said don't just take your foot off the brake but release it as you would a clutch. I never got the chance to try it and no longer have the car. I would love to hear from someone who can really get a controlled launch.

 

In my Stradale brochure it states:

...The driver activates the system by using the push-button on the tunnel & maintaining the brake pedal depressed, and he then adjusts the starting engine speed using the accelerator pedal. When he releases the brake pedal the clutch closes rapidly while the driver controls torque delivery...

And it works that way too.

I would suggest that you may want to consider coming to a conclusion that this may not be just a magic perfect launch button - but actually just a driver aid. Your input may still be required. If it were not then it would be just the equivalent of a video game.

Dr. Spencer. Your question about launch control is certainly a legitimate one. My observation is that there is some back-biting and one-ups-manship on this site and many other blogs. People seem to become less concerned about manners when they are somewhat anonymous.
That said, one doc to another, it never seems to go well when we insist on parading our wealth or credentials before our peers. By and large, FerrariChat seems to be a treasure trove of information and I appreciate the thoughtful and intelligent responses that most members provide.

 

I hope we can get back to asking a question and getting an answer. Best
