The cat is out of the bag... To all: I am leaving the Dallas area and moving to Houston. I will be resigning from Top Speed Auto. I will be joining the Houston Ferrari group because I accepted a job offer that is a career changing opportunity I have always wanted...from about 12+ years ago. I will be working as the service writer at Ferrari of Houston. I'm going to miss seeing all ya'll on a semi-regular basis in the Dallas crowd, but I am looking forward to meeting the Houston group and assisting them with their Ferrari / Maserati service needs. Still currently in between Prancing Horses (driving an NSX now), but I do plan on adding another Ferrari to my stable down the road. It has been a fun run and a pleasure meeting all of you...but I hope to still keep in touch during occasional visits to Dallas... CHEERS!!!
That's great. Congrats on your new job and welcome to Houston. Hope to meet you since I come by FoH almost every week.
Congrats George. So you're the one that stole this job from me? Look forward to meeting you. What area are you going to be living in?
+2 on Congrats George! FoH has some good people working there and although I have not been there in awhile I'll stop by and introduce myself. When can we expect you? PS, Oh and I am going to ask you if I can drive your NSX (one of my all time favorites).
Every week? Because of your car needing that much work or just to be neighborly? Initially, I will be staying at a friend's house just north of I-10 out twards Katy...20 to 30 minutes from Ferrari. I will take some time getting established with work, then source out my own place in the following few months after I learn the city a little. Sure, I think we can arrange an NSX ride. Thank you to all for the welcome and congratulations wishes! My first day will by Monday, June 30th. I am looking forward to meeting all of you in time.
Best of luck with the new career, it's a great place to work. As for living in Houston, well...just remember what I said. Don't let the traffic freak ya out.
Yep, you never really get used to it, but it becomes part of life. Learn some side/backroads and it makes life easier at times.
True. I have managed to structure my life so I am not often in much traffic. But it can be hard to do.
I'm sure we can meet up for a DRIVE in my NSX...perhaps on a Sunday. What area of Houston are you in? Thank you Tillman and Dave!!! I have already been given some great commute route suggestions that I think will work very well for me. I'll learn more as I get accustomed to Houston, but I also haven't lived there since I was 5 years old, and much has changed... .
I'm on the west side of town George, Hwy 6 and Westheimer, about 30min's from FoH. I was just messing with you about the drive. I have been wanting to stop by and say hi to Juan in parts and to the ladies working there. What area will you be living in?
Good to hear. Not sure your age, but when I was 5 the area I live in now, Cypress, didn't even exist. So if you haven't visited in a long time everything will look vastly different.
Welcome to Houston, stay away from 290....FAR AWAY!!!! thats my helpful tip, and we do have way better car meets than Dallas LOL
I too am (about to be "was") in the west....I-10 & Greenhouse area, but the commute is a bear...looking for closer temporary digs. The house I am staying at is now less than ideal too. Thanks Dave! The career move is going well. Now I just have to locate suitable housing. I am looking forward to learning this about the local car scene...I already figured out that the traffic is a challenge. Thank You!
Coffee and cars is back up and running this month. The gathering will be Saturday morning starting very early and going until 10:30ish. It is at Vintage Park off of 249 and Louetta. Also Super Car Saturdays is going on the same day on the other side of town (West Avenue) but starts at 9, goes to about 11. This is going off of it not raining. Again, welcome to H-Town haha Cavalloautosalon.com Facebook.com/cavalloautosalon Quality is not expensive, it's priceless.
Hey George how's it going? Your current location is a bit challenging but as you know there are a few ways you can go that would be less of a headache and just leaving 15min's earlier than usual can save a significant amount of time and frustration. I went to high school at Lee which is basically at Hillcroft and Richmond which is barely 10mins from FoH. There are some nice places to live around there but the area is also surrounded by trashy apartment complex's. Any way I'm sure you can find a decent home that is a lot closer to work. Happy 4th, Gregg
