There is no guarantee that Honda will produce a world beater but they probably won't make the same mistakes that Renault and Ferrari did. They will be a year behind in development though. You can't replace race laps with sims.

In the words of the Fonz: "Exactamundo!"

The only guarantee you can make about F1 is that there are no guarantees in F1! :p

Any of you thinking that McLaren wouldn't want Alonso back...you're kidding yourselves. They've been courting the guy the past two seasons.

Nobodies arguing that McLaren don't want Alonso back in the team, the argument is that Honda's power unit is such an unknown factor it makes McLaren too much of a risk for 2015, and McLaren are hardly likely to support Alonso to the degree that he seems to require (as Ferrari do).

Basically, there are no guarantee's that going to McLaren would work out any better for Alonso than Ferrari has so far for him.

There were one or two posters making that assertion.

There are no guarantees anywhere. I'm sure ALO will have pretty good intel on the chances of his prospective destinations and will act accordingly.

What is all this support Alonso gets at Ferrari?

    Exactly.

Can you elaborate on the bold portion and on the incriminating Ferrari pits and radio?

I think I said leaving Mercedes is a risk if you read my other post. I use less words but thanks for the lecture/conjecture what have you. Im sure Ron has done his homework.
I will have him call you just to make sure LOL!

I agree Button is past his prime, but he seems to be a good leader for the team, works well with quick co-drivers, great in the wet, tends to bring the car home in one piece (and in the points). he's the guy you want for a few years to develop younger talent.

I think MAG is very quick, McLaren was high on him prior to the start of the year. yes I think P2 at Australia might have been a false positive, both for him and the car. I think he'll develop much the way Rosberg has, plenty of natural talent and just needs to learn to get the best result possible.

The surprising part is that Alonso has stayed at Ferrari this long.

Do I not recall reading about a new contract Jenson has with McLaren going beyond his years as one of their F1 drivers?

Not gonna happen. Mclaren should just stick with their current line up.

I call it bollocks Ron is trying to court Alonso. It's just to get noticed. I don't think Alonso is going there where he was mismanaged, and where a team is doing worse than Ferrari now.

Mmmm....... Sounds suspiciously similar to Vettel being told to raise his game in order to compensate for the car that Red Bull apparently cannot improve!

I can see the scene at Ferrari now:

Marco Mattiacci: "Er, Kimi, can I have a word please?............ummm.......errr........Never mind Kimi - It wasn't important!"

What are you implying, Kimi does not strike me as a thug.
