HELP PPI Report For 355 Spider I was Looking at Buying.

Are you looking for some project / deal? This car needs a lot of work. If you are not going to do it yourself, it's going to cost far more than the car is worth.

 

looks like a real POS. unloved. banged hard and kicked out of bed......

unless u can wrench yourself, there is a ton of things to be done.

- new top, fitment
- tires / alignment
- refinish wheels
- dash
- sticky int
- various interior tidbits
- leather looks beat
- door jamb rust

and that is just the obvious stuff. i bet this car runs $10kish on the major... when all said an done at a auth dealer.

Show me the carfax and I will offer my two cents given the information you have provided. If you haven't seen the carfax then you are really operating in the blind on this one.

Why you feel that way about a "black car from Florida"? Curious.

 

FWIW, unless this is the exact configuration you desire, pass. Better cars are around, unless you can get it for a price where you are still only into it about $55k AFTER all the services.

 

I would want to see that if I was buying this car. If it has 38 entries I think it's been around the block quite a few times and where it's been and for how long is important to me as a buyer. I still think car saw water up to at least the door sills.

 

If it lives in FL it can be driven 12 months out of the year. Northern cars are in garages 6-9 months of the year. The dashboard and the top on that car are probably indicative of that exposure.

I've spent a lot of time in FL and anyone who has knows the sun is brutal there for probably 9 months out of the year. Black paint will absolutely get baked in that environment and and a black interior is toast. That combination in a sun drenched environment, 12 months a year is just not something I would be interested in.

 

Black/Black is pretty nice looking. That car needs some love. It sat outside for sure due to all the faded engine pieces. Looks pretty decent otherwise. The rust would worry me a little. I have never seen them rust there. I would say mid thirties to low 40s. If the engine is solid all the other stuff is easily fixed.

 

Top looks like its in good shape. Challenge grill.....and are those real shields that are sunk in the fenders or add ons? How much are they asking?

 

The sills themselves are steel . The rocker panels are the same ax the bumper, plastic.

That sill doesn't rust unless it gets wet and not from a wash.

This is a south Florida car that saw water.

We live near the water here (salt) and I remember my brother in law plowing through a tidal flooded road in my inlaws Nissan whatever. That car broke out in rust like a bad case of acne. To this day I sit there and shake my head as I see people go blasting through flooded streets around here that occur at certain high tides and wind conditions. Those cars are as trashed as a flood car in my mind.

Those sills are maybe 8 inches of the road. A flooded road that is passable is regularly plowed through by dumb drivers. That salt water is toxic.

this looks like it was owned by a seaside condo owner.... sat in the basement garage near the sea salt.

 

I agree with the others. It appears that she has been flooded. Doesn't look like a good bet to me.

 

Wow, suddenly this car has been underwater according to the x-spurts.
Rust in the sills means nothing but moisture has gotten under the powdercoat.
Heck, they all get that eventually.
Look at the suspension, that'll tell the real story if salt is involved.
Guess everybody's in a hurry to make a less-than-perfect car into a ragbag.
Could be a bargain....then again, it IS a Florida car.....so maybe not....you gotta lay eyes on it.

 

I have no way of knowing for sure of course. Just operating by remote control here from a thousand miles away. The OP wanted some ideas of what he should be looking to pay for the car.

From my perspective given the info provided I would not pay a nickle.

If the comp/ld comes back solid and I could get under the car on a lift and be ok that it doesn't have rust elsewhere and I could see a carfax then I would venture a guess.
