Any suggestions on a good back-up camera solution for a 2007-2008 F430? I was thinking something WiFi that I could attach at the rear plate, maybe a license plate bracket, and then could link up to view on an iPhone or iPad?

Just looking for some ideas that are very easy to install.

    TIA!

You might want to take a look at the new Ferrari Clarion flip out Navi/Audio unit which also includes a backup camera installed in a license plate light. I'm getting one installed in my 360 soon. Cost around $1900 installed.

IMHO you are better off not installing a tacky flip out head unit that covers up the HVAC vents. The rear visibility is not THAT bad!

Thanks for the input! I saw a couple of license plate brackets on amazon.com that had WiFi CMOS cameras -- has anyone tried those with success?

FWIW, I don't think my Kenwood flip out unit is tacky. Everybody that sees it loves it, and it is capable like a modern audio system would be, with a hard wired backup camera NOT mounted to a license plate frame, but to the body work the way it ought to be.

Plus, it's not like the screen can't stow away hidden when not in use, and there's a remote to control the functions in lieu of using the touch screen. Plus it doesn't really block my 3 center vents, and I don't typically use the cars HVAC system since I have a spider and drive top down.

    See? Perfection!

I think an iPhone wifi backup camera would drive me nuts. So you get in the car, then you need to make sure the phone is connected to the wifi network from the camera/transmitter then open the video app...what are we talking here 60-90 seconds just to be ready to back the car up? I could see something like that on a 50' motor home but not on a sports car...

I was of the school "leave her stock looking" as my PO installed a Parrot, Ipod cable, amp, and high end speaker to maximize what Ferrari installed while looking stock.... then I spent my 1st hour reading the Hi-Fi manual... wow.

That's just the camera, no? -- does that work with an existing HiFi system? It's 1DIN, so how do you get the video output?

You have to buy a headunit that can accept the camera feed. it technically does not have to be the clarion/ferrari unit.

But all in all, after seeing it installed in a former neighbor's car, the backup camera is as useful as just turning your head because it's not like the 458 or F12 camera where it indicates the various proximity zones or line of path.

Oh, that sucks. I've seen some of the license plate WiFi ones that show the proximity grids -- which is what I am looking for. The parking area is tight and I only have 6" of play one way or the other so I was thinking of using a backup camera to line it up perfectly.

    Are there any alternatives?

Ferrari is coming out with an updated flip screen for the 355 - 360 - 430 that can have the rear camera - bluetooth - satellite - etc.

Yup. Pricing was supposed to be available in June but nothing yet. Its a flip NAV with logo etc. Talk about an afterthought. I can bet its going to cost well over 3 grand USD.

I believe they are using the Clarion NZ503 which can be bought for around $500. I just purchased this for mine, just need to source the factory backup camera or equivalent.

I think the issue with the factory backup camera is the earlier report that it does not display proximity lines/distances.

I totally agree and same here. Not tacky at all. I have the Pioneer AVH7500BT with the backup camera. I took it one step further. I actually made a DVD video of all my favourite EDM music and have a Ferrari Logo slideshow running on the screen. So many people at Ferrari meets asked me where I got this. This flip screen is amazing and turns a lot heads! Here take a pic and YouTube vid:

Sorry for the pink markings in the video and pic. Was clubbing so hard and shining my iPhone 5s to the lasers which burnt markings on my camera sensor lol!!! Waiting for iPhone 6;)

Try Tadibrothers.com or sonicelectronix.com but forget CMOS which has low res.
