So after reading all the posts I am guessing I have an issue in the water belt or alternator region. Either one failed or the belt failed. Is it possible to reach these without doing a engine pull? Thanks!

Jack the rear of the car. Secure with stands. Remove diffusers and center belly pan.

Now you can look from below to see what's up with the belts. Hopefully one of them shredded and needs replacing. These belts can be changed without pulling the engine. Supposedly the water pump can be removed without pulling the engine, but it's a real pain. The alternator, ps pump, etc are reasonably easily pulled from the car from below, but you'll probably lose some knuckle flesh.

Hoping it's just a belt. That's the easiest/quickest/simplest fix. You may have to replace the battery as well if it's too far gone.

Good luck. Keep us informed as to what you see under there.

My guess without seeing the car is that he has a siezed water pump or is about to sieze.thats why its affected his p/s and alt because both run on the water pump pulley with two different belts.

If your alt light is on steady? Then it may just be your alt belt.

OK...everybody on the same page now...lol

There are 3 accessory belts on the 355.....only 2 of these are driven by the crank pulley..i.e. the a/c compressor and the belt that drives both the alternator and the coolant pump....the coolant pump pulley has a second set of grooves on which the small belt goes which drives the powere steering pump.

BTW, I have a complete set of belts for sale.

Looks like I have a good direction to head. If I see the belt is gone, is there a way to check the water pump to see if it is still functioning? If I have to buy parts, where is the best place to go? I once again cannot thank you all enough for helping me through this. Cold beers to all if you ever happen to visit South Dakota!

Thank you very much! Very helpful indeed. Posted an update on a new thread but should have just kept the original one. I am learning. Slowly. Ha! Thanks again.

On the second photo, going clockwise:
leftmost pully is alternator, then waterpump, then power steering pump, then AC compressor, then crankshaft, then tensioner pulley.
