Hey..just popped back in, to say I have been here a LONG time, and recently decided to let go of some pretty rare, early steel North American 308s..

No matter what I think, I got my time in the barrel, where people think a rust spot equals "$50K restoration"...and all that.

    Opinions, well you know..

But, quality always sells, it's a matter of how much..

A good business deal is always a "win-win"..focus on that as the guiding star, and it looks like someone will get a beautiful car!!

    Hey Nic,

Don't get defensive here... This is one of the best places to sell a car and you should expect remarks as well as alerts to other.

Yes, we do look after each other and opinions are appreciated. Nothing wrong about being a flipper... Do it here and you should expect an alert to hit on your ad.

I like your car and GLWS.

I've seen this car in California a few years ago. It's stunning in person, the color combo and the wheels work well together. I have some pics of it from then on one of my computers.

I passed on it twice now because it's a spider... But Nero with top up is allmossst a coupe... And then there's that beautiful sunny day where you can change your whole attitude about traffic or errands with that little button... At least thats what I keep telling myself to change my heart

    GLWS... It's a beautiful car

Nic, potential buyers would want the year the major was done. Unfortunately, 3300 miles
    doesn't mean anything. :)

@Akellums, thank you for adding the necessary transparency to this thread, and to other fchatters who do the same.

This is definitely a beautiful car, but not worth the $97K price (oops, I meant $90K).

The seller's awesome run-on sentence explanation indicates that you caught him with his shorts down.

Especially since it likely needs a major.

OP just said the belts were changed in Nov 09. There isn't a consistently defined "major" service on these cars AFAIK. Most people consider the major to be all belts, tensioners, all fluids and filters and inspection...some include new plugs and others I'm sure include other stuff (or not).

Ferrari recommended interval is 3 years for belts on this model fwiw...

Yup, its past due (3 years would have been Nov 2012).

Most of the time when people flip a car they at least do the major. It helps offset the price increase. Just sayin.....

Yeah, flipping exotics is certainly a game I don't understand...this seems to be a car that sat and didn't find buyers in the mid-80s...then was bought for less than that (thus establishing the market value??). Then instantly relisted for $90,000. How is that supposed to work? Didn't the market just speak?

All that said, its a nice looking car with good options and a gated manual...so it should find a home...as always the price is the hurdle for finding that home...which brings me back to....how is this supposed to work? (I just hate arguing with the "market" when it speaks, but ymmv)

I would expect Ferrari dealers and a few other exotic shops to update the car by performing the major. Most others, not.

I am always suspicious when someone posts a car for sale when they have only a few posts total.

    Where has this person been?

Just jumps on here to shift a car - then be prepared to take some lumps.

    Cheers

Only way it works is if the "market" value is not rigid. For example, would you buy a dollar bill for $1.05? Would you try to sell a dollar bill (that you paid a dollar for) for $1.05? You know that would not work. The "market" is clear.

But if you think the "market" is flexible on Ferrari 360s... it could work.

But to try to sell a car for much higher price that the "market" let sit unsold for a long time? Hard sell.

Beautiful car though. I'd like to have it.

    Jack

That alone might tell you something, about understanding the market??

I pulled my cars back, until I can say:
"Yes we changed the timing belts....YESTERDAY!!!!!!"

Then the conversation can move on, to other issues.

    This is a beautiful car.
Don't run it down, call him up and barter on price.

I would close the post and reopen it after the service, but I have no idea how to do so. The reason I have not posted on this forum is because I am a Lamborghini owner that recently purchased a Ferrari. I like the Ferrari, but It is much different than what I am used to. I thought this would be a spot to sell the car. So I posted it here. Yes I priced it high, but that is so people talk me down to I price that we are both happy with. I drove the car to a Ferrari mechanic on Friday so he could look and drive it (he ended up driving it around with me as a passenger for an hour lol). He was extremely impressed and said he had not seen this nice of a 360 in quite awhile. His one piece of advice was to do the service or Ferrari enthusiasts would not purchase it. So it gets a service in 2 weeks.
