Chris, you should be getting royalties.
Here is another Pizzaman-inspired Bend-Pak lift installation by a friend who prefers to remain anonymous. He spent the extra $$ and got the Ferrari version (note decal on pump). It works incredibly well. The mirror lets him watch the car on the ramps. Here is the first official lifting of the Dino:

I thought the mirror was like having mirrors on your bedroom ceiling.

I am very interested to know how it is going with the lift since it has been several months?

I recently left the automotive industry so my all access pass to a full equiped service bay is now a thing of the past. I think this type of lift would be perfect for my and my fleet of beaters. Would really like to know yoour thoughts now that you have lived with it for a while.

    Thanks!

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Everything is fine with the lift. Still works great. If you have a low ceiling, i think mine is under 8', this is ideal. It's a great lift.

I did my rear suspension with it and if i ever get motivated again I'll do the front. It's been too hot in the garage and after sweating for 10 hours in the shop that's the least thing i want to do.

And just the other day i lifted the 308 up to spin the tires. She's been siting for a while but that's another thread/story.

I'm bringing back this old thread to thank everyone for their ideas and suggestions. My MD-6XP was delivered yesterday and I have been researching how to set it up and properly use it. I'm glad to see that my idea for ramps falls in line with what everyone else has done. I not only will be using it for my 1981 308 GTSi, but also for my Fiat 500 Abarth and my Audi A6. The A6 is the only one that will clear the lift without ramps, but my ramps will have to accommodate the differences in the wheelbase and track of all three cars. I will also make sure that any of the three cars is properly positioned on the lift to insure the balance is correct and safe before getting under it.

I pocketed mine into the floor......no ramps to deal with and ANY car can pull over it without interference....NO ramps to "adjust" or to store. And I can still move it out of the pocket to use else where if need be...

That has to be the ideal way. Maybe I will look at that in the future. Thanks for the picture.

I have one of these lifts and love it. It is perfect for my garage space. I also built two wood ramps to provide appropriate clearance.

So would you be willing to share your "pocket" dimensions and would you do anything different at this point?

    Thanks!

The pocket floor is a great idea, lift-wise, but might be in violation of building codes. I know in NJ, the garage floor must slope down to the outside garage door. The logic being that any fuel spill will run outside rather than puddle. The last thing anyone needs is a garage fire followed by the insurance company denying the claim because of a building violation. PITA, but that's today's reality. Something to look into before cutting into the garage floor.

I will not be back in order to get the measurements until 1 August I will supply at that time and if I was going to do something different I would go and have made the end towards the garage door opening ramped at about 60° on the edge so to be easier to remove the lift when I need to take it outside for larger vehicles.

I look forward to the dimensions and good idea on the incline to aid in pulling it in and out!
