Thanks to your insulting answer you losted all my US friends as your potential customers. Well done!
I suggest you a customer relationship course at the PhilaU and a quick politeness review.

I'm totally confused now. I am not a dealer. The car was consigned to the dealer who sold it. You might want to get your facts straight........

These are great cars. Had a cool little ride in one once in San Diego with a fellow Fchatter.

If it said Ferrari Dino Spider, they would be a million bucks in todays world.

I recently bought a 2.4 spider for similar money and imported it to the UK. Had this car or the Le Mans auction car been available then they would have been a strong contenders. My car has had one of the floor pans repaired but other than that has never seen a welding torch. I would expect the provenance of these cars to be similar. Around $200K USD seems to be the current market for the top specimens. Unmolested 2.4s come up so rarely and more often than not change hands without coming on to the market. I located my car in Madrid and fought off competition from a German collector who flew his Ferrari mechanic over to inspect the car.

There seem to be two schools of thought on Fiat Dino spider values. There are those who remember scruffy 2.0s going for $20K or less a decade or so ago and can’t see beyond that. There are those who see the scarcity and desirability of the 2.4 and understand the real costs of restoring either model. What Iceblue is doing is epic – I’m sure the work and expense you are putting in will prove to be a sound investment.

I'm in the middle of a total Resto of my 2.4 spider-engine, interior etc, and of course repaint-it was originally light metallic blue, but was naturally repainted red (what else!) in terms of what they're worth, if people can get past the snobbery of looking down at the fiat badge, they're a beautiful pininfarina design, with a Ferrari engine, built in huge Ferrari factory-what's not to like! I actually think it drives better than my 246 Dino gt (heresy I know)

If you take a 246 Dino GT apart and compare it to a Fiat Dino there is no doubt which car is built better, it's the Fiat. The 246 Dino GT is a flimsy ladder frame with weak body panels and fiberglass inserts, but a lot of people don't want to hear that.

The 246 Dino GT is prettier. But yes, Ferrari were and still are the kings of half-baked engineering.

One can really appreciate Pininfarina true imaginary lines.
That is one thing I love about Italian designers, what they draw they fabricate....
    From Concept to reality!

The curves of the fenders bare metal are simply amazing.
I can't put my finger on why these curves look so good this morning.
    Maybe it the metallic hue?
Or maybe because I have been stuck dealing with rust for the past 9 months.

I can only imagine these Italian guys working the metal back in 71
Thank god, this rare example still retains its original shape...

This car is growing on me really fast. Going into first stage primer today :)

go find another thread to be a pest in...

I find it funny how you are asking the seller to fully disclose...mention that the dinoplex came with the car yet you never mentioned you were already an owner of a PERFECT 2.4.

    lol...whatever.

Hi Everyone from Jon Fink, Charlottesville, va

I have owned both a 2.0 liter Fiat Dino Spider as well as my current 1971 2.4 spider # 1397

My 2.0 was an early car # 217 and had knock off rims. The build quality was good but a bit average with regard to fittings, and overall road feel firm....a rather difficult component to quantify if one is not sitting behind the wheel at speed. the aluminum block motor gave a lovely howl between 7,000-8,000 RPM and yes I would shift there. The 2.0 cars develop less torque, so one must goose the RPM's to develop any power. All in all this was a lovely car. I purchased it in 1994 when they seemed to be unknown and unloved, and this was my initial introduction to a Dino of any kind. How times have changed.

Many years ago I purchased my 2.4 spider which was in need of a total mechanical restoration. The body was very sound and although the paint was quite tired, upon removal to bare metal, there was very, very little rust to contend with. WE returned it to the original color # 162, a lovely burgundy.Over the years I have continued to tweak things. I have found Dino's to be quite reliable. The driving experience and build quality are simply phenomenal on this car. The 2.4 cars were built in the Ferrari plant and still 43 years later, there is not a squeak anywhere, the car exhibits no body roll, and is extraordinarily stable and agile. I did drive a number of "Ferrari" dinos, but frankly have always liked my engine to be in front. The ZF gear box is hardy and the wishbone suspension allows for very spirited motoring. With regard to comparisons, I have always felt this way...does the car give you good feelings ? Do you think about her when you are away ? Can you not wait to see her, caress her curves (know where I am going ?) Is your car rarer or more valuable than mine ? Dopes that even matter ? To me it is the song of the engine at high rpm, the grip on our Virginia mountain roads, and the beauty that to Sergio Pininfarina could express in metal. He once told me that the Fiat Dino Spider was his "third" favorite body, next to the Lusso and the 250.

If anyone is interested in a 2.4, then come for a drive with me. Mine is not for sale, but I am always happy to share the experience.

    All the best

Exotic cars drive our emotions. 424 of the 2.4 Fiat Dino spiders were built making them the rarest of the 2.4 platforms, save the lancia Stratos

    Hey Jon
You and I have to get together as soon as 2.4 is finished. Your 2.4 purchase was a far more pleasant experience than mine. I never once got to drive mine.. as soon as I unloaded mine from the container from the UK. It required some deep soul searching, I am sure you remember me calling you. My car was a complete resurrection project. From engine rebuilt, brakes, suspension and body work. We are planning finishing up the metal work / paint by the end of Oct. Then it's back to the shop to fit the everything back in...
We are planning on dyno tune my 2.4 around Dec.

Owning all 3 variants (except Dino Coup) a Dino 2.4 Spider , a Ferrari Dino GTS and a Group IV Stratos, the Fiat drives the best, it is an absolute pleasure to cruise around.

I have seen Ferrari Dino's go from people turning their noses up at them for $40k to surpassing $500k for outstanding examples, similarly for the Lancia, so when a couple of years ago I decided to add the Fiat I decided to "pay all the money" for the best example I could get my hands on and at $130k my friends informed me I was soft in the head and need to seek professional help....

Here we are in 2014 preparing for another record setting Monterey week and $130k seems like a real deal.

Ferrari Dino, Fiat 2.4 Dino or Lancia Stratos all share the same heritage and rightfully so ! All 3 are iconic cars with an iconic engine.

What a great collection is that a 365 or 512 in the background.
I love the color combo on the 2.4.
Do you have any history on the 2.4 as to where and when she was sold back in the 70's.
I was lucky enough to have all paper work back from Italian registration and amount paid.
Can you share more more pictures of the engine , interior and trunk.
What it every fully restored? She looks so pure.

I recently purchased Labcars beautiful 1970 Fiat Dino Spider and I'm making some minor improvements. I have not been able to source the missing small plastic red and blue triangle markers at the top of the heater controls on the center stack.

Any ideas?? Any good pictures would be appreciated.

    thanks for your help
