And another thread that could have been informative and even beneficial goes off the rails.

People hate police for a reason. They are never around when needed and always around to harass when not called upon. Stats don't lie, cops have higher rates of DUI, domestic abuse, steroid abuse, suicides then the general population by MULTIPLES. Pick any major city and corruption involving police occurred from day 1.

Cops have no problem stopping granny with a taser, handing out traffic tickets or raiding homes for assets that they use to fill their own coffers with. Never around when needed. F**k the police, overpaid simpletons with $2 dollar haircuts who have a state sanctioned monopoly on violence.

you were let off easy so be thankful. 6 lanes in a short distance is dangerous, period. you are causing drivers behind you to slow down and even stop in some instances. he could have given you a ticket, so a 4 minute stop was a courtesy afforded you, probably b/c the cop liked your car.

people should just stick to the circumstances of THIS incident and leave opinions generated by previous history, home. Some police abuse their power, certainly not all. it is stupid to generalize. in this instance by the OP, I think there was decent reason to pull him over and then quickly release once he saw there was nothing suspicious.

You suggest "Just stick to the circumstances of THIS incident". Then speculate by stating, "6 lanes in a short distance is dangerous". When the OP confirmed he changed lanes safely.

You speculated & claimed that, "you are causing drivers behind you to slow down and even stop in some instances". When there has been no stated evidence of this.

Seems you should follow your own advice, instead of disregarding it.

neither of us were there and this discussion relies not on stated evidence. besides, just because the OP didn't state something, doesn't mean it didn't happen - self-incrimination and all, Gerhard. simply stated, it is not unreasonable for the Police to pull over someone who just quickly changed lanes 6 times to make an exit. a 4-minute stop has got to be close to a world record for the quickest Police stop, so it will be difficult for anyone to make a case for the officer abusing his power, etc, etc. I recently got a ticket for tinted windows on my Ferrari and it pissed me off, so I am certainly not a Police lover. Im just being fair.

Correct in regards to "neither of were there", that why I made no assumptions nor speculations.

Agreed, but there is very little traffic so it feel safer just in terms of avoiding knuckleheads of all types and there are only 3 lane not six so one less reason to get stopped :)

Sorry this thread turned to crap. Got home safe and harassment free last night. Well worth the extra 6 bucks to pay the tolls

I don't think it turned to crap and it allowed some good debates and is informative.

I doubt if the same thing happened while the OP was driving a Lexus SUV that there would be any discussion at all.

Why is it when some people have things happen to them it’s about the “Ferrari” or because of the “Ferrari”?

This has been discussed already. How is the cop able to see that this was a Ferrari, prior to the pull-over, as this happened at night?

Maybe it is because the majority of society think (just thinking out loud) if someone is driving a Ferrari they think/know "They must be speeding"? It is crazy I know. CHP are know to have a history of "bad stop's" so maybe they are getting too "conditioned" and are forgetting the oath "To Protect and Serve".

Thanks. This was the first thing that came to mind and I wasn’t about to read through 8 pages.

Stuff like this perpetuates the snobby Ferrari driver persona.

Very possible. Shinny objects draw attention. Same could be true if he was driving a red ZR1, Viper, or a BRZ with bottom facing purple florescent lights.

    ...but it's a big issue when it's in a Ferrari. I don't get.

I am not a pretentious owner I was just surprised that this us the first time I have ever been pulled over for anything remotely like this abd really the first time pulled over in years abd it happened to be the first time I took the car out at night. Could be a coincidence but I doubt it. Even the dealer down the street told nee to expect to be pulled over if it is after 11pm in the area I live and that their buyers have this issue regularly

Your free to support the TSA all you like.

And, everyone is free to embrace the idea of being pulled over without probable cause.

Personally, I would not be a fan of unlawful detentions or search and seizures. There was nothing in the original post that suggested the lane change was unsafe. And, apparently there was no violation of an actual law, rule or regulation, otherwise a ticket would have been generated.

    The cop was fishing.

    That's exactly what it was.

Assuming the original post was truthful.

And, generally, that kind if behavior has been, in fact, frowned upon in our history in the US, TSA not withstanding.

I do not support the TSA. I live in Canada. :)

What I meant was, that the TSA puts everyone through those xray units, and they get to see everyone nude, with no probable cause. They can give you the hook for what they deem "suspicious" behavior, however nowhere else in the world is that same behavior "suspicious".

To me that is much more of a violation of one's freedom than a cop pulling someone over. At least the cop doesn't get to see you nude, or take you in a back room, put on a latex glove, and go fishing in your rectum.
