Those of you who have had the car for years set and maintain your version of the "right" pressures. Three of the four brands listed in the OM have roughly 10% more air in the fronts than the rears. Then there are the French. Most of you know that they are a different (superior?) breed. In 1996, Ferrari wanted 10% more in the rears for Michelin Pilot SX MXX3s.

FWIW my car came with Goodyear Eagle F1s, std. fronts and 285/40s on the back. (They actually fit the car pretty well - and make the speedo dead accurate.)

Barring a bolt of lightning from the sky, I guess I will start with about 36 or 37 front and 32 rears, but I would like to hear opinions. While I am not brave enough, good enough, or dumb enough to try to stay with a fast 458, I have had claw marks in the passenger seat.

Thanks guys, I have learned an amazing amount in a short period of time from this forum.

30psi up front and 32 at the rear.....anything more than that and the car tries being a kangaroo.....that's for the 348......i have absolutely no idea how the front pressure is "recommended" to be more......

Most manufacturers want to skew pressures towards under steer, hence the lower numbers in front. Can't figure out the French. They are French after all and they are known contrarians. I use 32 front/35 back. If I am doing canyons, it's a couple of lbs lower all around. If I am doing a straight shot on the freeway, I up the psi a couple for the mileage.

I run 35/33 f/r and balance is spot on. I run slightly wider tires all around, 245/275 f/r.

Tires are continental extreme dw, those are pressures I tuned at autocross and at the track.
