Meant to ask Tim, was there any reason you guys didn't switch from 16 injectors to 8?

We assumed the combustion chambers were designed to work best with twin injectors and we don't want to veer too far from ordinal where possible otherwise where do you stop?

Also with 16 instead of 8 you do not need to max duty cycle, can decrease the work upon the fuel pressure regulator and stay within safe a/f ratios while playing with boost.

I suspect the 16 injectors are just due to old technology. The internal discs, pintles and solenoids of the day were so heavy that high flow rate injectors could not open and close fast enough for the very short duty cycle needed for idle and low throttle. I will bet the second set of injectors opens only under boost. Modern injectors have a much greater dynamic range and can support over 1000 hp and still idle well.

If the MoTeC will operate 16 injectors it is no big deal either way, but I might be tempted to have smaller injectors for part throttle and bigger for boost so you have plenty of headroom to run big boost if you feel like it.

Thanks for all the comments on the injectors and that is still a little further down the road.

Meanwhile some more progress on the carbon arches.

Resin infused and cooking. This time, so as to ensure a perfectly flat surface, we have used glass as a base. Apologies if this is getting somewhat repetitive!

For those in the UK, although I cannot be there, more importantly the car has been invited to Brooklands this Saturday, albeit not in her finished state, and provided it does not rain will probably be there. Just in case anyone is bored of pics and wants to see in the flesh.

Looks like thunderstorms all day so will be a no show.

Just putting a bit of satin black on the air filter boxes rather than the gloss it was.

We took moulds of the inside panels using the same principles that we used to make the front clam, the secondary panels are trimmed and bonded into place using an Epoxy glue which is costly but effective.

I'm super jealous of James, would love to be able to work on the stuff he does!

    That's a safe assumption, on our race car we run 4 2000's and 4 1300's, although it's only a 4 cyl.

I know you're aware about the dangers of pushing injectors to max duty cycle, but we(my shop) don't like taking injectors passed 85% just to be safe. Having anything at 100% is just asking for trouble.

The progress here lately has been heavenly! That carbon work is second to none!
