I just spent the last three hours or so installing a Challenge grill. I must admit it was a job trying to get all the fasteners to line up. I had forgotten to add spacers behind the two top center fasteners so the hatch would not close as it pulled the latch out of alignment but I go that fixed okay. I now have Challenge grilles front and back. I purchased it off eBay from someone who wanted a plain grille (I guess Challenge grilles aren't everyone's cup of tea) and it was in perfect condition.

Sweet! Great job! Looks so good on your car with that color.

Now it's about time for me to go and find myself a challenge grille... :D

Thanks Nick -- I think it goes well with the color as it's not such a stark contrast compared with the bright reds.

Looks awesome. Your car is very similar to my prior 360 which was Rosso Fiorano and cream. Always planned on getting a challenge grill but sold the car before; it would have looked great with it!

Fantastic! I remember running into similar issues when I installed one on my 355. Much nicer look, IMO.

Very nice! For whatever reason, I think the greys and particularly the light blues look great without it, but for the dark reds it seems to be almost mandatory.

I've been looking for a rear challenge grill - has anyone bought one from Ricambi?

I'm not sure what Ricambi sells the Ferrari ones for as there website says "contact us" for the price. Exotic Auto Recycling sells them for $1100 plus shipping. Theirs is made in the UK by ProSport and is a pattern (aftermarket) part. I have no information on the fit but I did get two of their front Challenge grilles and had to do a little fettling on the inside of the front bumper to get them to drop in and bolt up to the existing tapped holes. Not a big deal. If someone has installed their rear grille please chime in on their experience. The OEM one that I installed was a challenge (no pun intended :) ) as some of the studs didn't want to line up with the holes in the car but the fit in the rear was pretty darn good -- there is a very slight gap between the left hand profile of the grille and the profile of the quarter panel. The right hand side fits perfectly. You really have to look at both sides to tell the difference.

Ricambi's price is $1600 minus 10% for FCA members. Shipping is nominal. But they are and have been on backorder for 7 weeks.

Nice work and fun mod to do yourself!

Yes, aligning the hood latch can be tricky! Don't ask how I know!

Yes they do but you cannot order them to be shipped to the US as Exotic Auto Recycling is their seller here. I tried as the price would have been about $80 cheaper but no guarantee that I wouldn't have to pay import duties.
Also does that price include VAT for UK residents?

Pattern simply means that the part is not made by Ferrari themselves....
Technically it means that whoever makes this part has (at a point in history) got themselves a genuine challenge grille and made a pattern of it in order to copy it.

In the US we call Pattern parts Aftermarket parts. Now I know why I no longer live in the UK -- 20% sales tax OMG. I complain when North Carolina increases the sales tax from 6.5% to 6.75% -- I guess I should be thankful.
BTW Chris -- how is the fit?

Thanks Derek for your clear explanation.

I have now to verify if this copy is a good one that will fit perfectly to my car.
