    That last photo is very interesting; notice that the wheels on this car are the same as the ones on the Prova MO 1247 car... I wonder if that's were they came from. Are these common aftermarket wheels? MOMO or Speedline, perhaps? Has anybody ever seen this type of wheel on another car?

    Very similar if not the same wheel design to that of the Lancia Rally 037. I believe the wheels were made by Speedline, same as those on the production 288GTO.

    Looks like Dario Benuzzi the test driver at the wheel. On the job 13 years at Ferrari when that picture was taken.

    Reviving this thread from back in 2014.

    When you say that the chassis was " destroyed and scrapped by the factory " would you be able to expand upon this?
    In other words, was it dismantled and the different parts sent to different recyclers or was it actually crushed and melted down to nothing.
    There are some rumors circulating and I am curious to learn.

    At one time years ago a photographer from a European car mag broke into the factory property and took pictures of quite a few cars of that era in a big heap. It was obvious they had been used for crash testing. I would assume the car suffered a similar fate. God knows no special car would have ever been whisked out under cover of darkness to be resurrected. The Italians simply do not operate that way.
