No because I need to run an ignition control system on it which I haven't settled on any yet, plus its a pain to run one outside of the chassis. What im finding is the ECU's out there that do what I need are over-kill that are aimed at EFI or systems that are simple and dont provide spark advance. I need something in between. I expect it to sound like a carb'd boxer in stock trim. Im assuming it will out-pull my koenig?
Ready for paint in these photos, final minor details were being looked after first. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Originally the suspension was re-bushed and put back together but since was reconsidered and Ive had the arms and hardware re-plated. Ill detail the hub carriers and re-assemble it. Ill do the same to the front once the painted shell is here. The arm color is what the other yellow zinc parts look like, the flash makes them look different. Newman, perhaps you could have a look at 123ignition (no affiliation), they make a programmable ignition system that fits completely inside the distributor housing, including vacuum advance. Normally it is a unit where they supply a complete drop-in distributor, but perhaps it is possible for them to build the electronic unit inside the distributor body you have (or maybe even a new one one made from scratch). Next to the physical issue there is the thing that they preferably need to reliably work in tandem, since you will probably have 2 6-cylinder systems in parallel. That shouldn't be too difficult to realise but depends on the precision of the units.
Thanks for the info. If I use a Haltech I can run the twin distributor option where Im using two outputs only to trigger the ignitors alternately for each bank. Problem is the ECU can do 90% more than I want which has an associated cost.
Still in the booth taken by the painter, will need to cut an polish next but will do the boxer trim first. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Boxer trim is next. Finish clam shells and paint then black out the insides as well as the correct texture being applied. Looks great in black, Im thinking I need a black boxer.
