Cool to see sponsors ****ting on my car :D

That's mine. The reflect-a-gold is to protect as much of the intake as possible because I no longer have a heatshield due to the custom straight pipes that are installed. Look up reflect-a-gold, lots of people use it in cars.

The "taped on carbon fiber" is actually lava mat. Additional heat shielding on the intake boxes to avoid getting heat-soaked due to being in close proximity to the incredibly hot straight pipes.

All of it is easily peeled off and completely reversible. But considering the tight-wad retards on this forum, many people here consider the car ruined.

There is an extreme level of irony in the bulk of your post. Not directed in any negative way at you.
    I've edited only to highlight.

You have succinctly placed your finger on something which is obvious to any outsider.

We're making progress. And what would be the obvious part? That people here, on this forum, get incredibly upset if their car doesn't have every original part on it and shun all modifications?

I remember the huge debate in the thread about the intake muffler box thingy, people were claiming that cars were being ruined because of the removal of a simple plastic box.

Actually, you couldn't be more wrong. At least from my point of view.

That's not what I was saying at all.

If I need to spell it out:

A large part of this forum celebrates people doing their own maintenance on these cars, and finding their own solutions to the various problems they encounter.

    That's fine.

The "irony" I talked about is that those very people would then ridicule someone who has done exactly that.

    Ok?

Well, it probably keeps the intake air cooler. Even if it made more power I'd never open the lid in public.

But would you do your own maintenance?

So far I've done all of my own maintenance. We have a very active "Stooge" group here in Southern California that work on them, some race them, modify them, etc. Not sure if these are exactly Stooge modifications but I applaud the effort. As time goes on and less and less parts become available, creative solutions will be needed.
