It will be very interesting to see the presentation of this car.

Supposedly, all of the body is being redone and corrected after being stripped, and then a "proper" repaint to original color.

I will be the first person to say so, but given the time, I will be amazed by this feet.

plus all the Gooding stuff, that seems to be a bit too greedy by the auction houses and might be too much for the market.....

What's this rubbish on the Bonhams site re #00338 all about???
"The only obvious non-standard feature of the car appears to be it's lockable fuel filler cap......and yet this item is itself a charming reminder of the Italian enthusiast after-market..."
Bearing in mind the importance this auction house appears to have afforded the 10 Ferrari collection, it makes me wonder if there's any other incorrect drivel on the other models???

I think they just mean that the fuel cap currently fitted is not the original 206 item which is clear in the photographs. What is of more concern is that if you enlarge the side view photo of the car the outer sill has been cut away! Very odd to advertise it like this.

I'm particularly surprised by the very wide range of estimated prices for this set of Dino's. Last year there were (5) Dino's sold at auction, so this is a significant increase in number.

I traded 03964 to Algar at the end of May. Correction to the auction listing: the car is painted Rosso Fiorano Metallizzato, not Rosso Rubino. Fred

Bonhams is NOT the owner of the ex-Violati/Maranello Rosso Collection out of San Marino. They are just auctioning the cars, the first ten Ferraris coming up at Quail Thursday 14th August.
Here is a photo showing the current incorrect gas filler cap (lockable) on 00338.
In German Dino guru's Matthias Bartz' fabulous book "Dino Compendium" one can easily find a photo showing the proper gas filler cap for a 206 GT.

Interesting - 06176 has at least the dash and glove box apparently covered in leather, in addition to the non-factory AC system (in other words, it probably works), and it has been Classiched. I'd like to see the "Exceptions" section of the Classiche report.

Was this 3 seater, V12 "Dino" with central steering mentioned already? I wonder how this beautiful old lady will do at the auction!

I should be able to closely look over all the Bonham's Dino's...just discovered that my new place is about a 700ft walk to the Bonham tent that they're already putting up. I plan to take lots of pictures.

Ron, 03964 was my car from 1983 until this past May, when I traded it to Algar. Curiously, the Bonhams catalog description states that I had sold it by the late 1980s. It also speculates that the headlight covers may have been added by Algar before they sold it as a new car. I had the car stripped to bare metal in the early 2000s, obtained the uncut headlight covers fron Egidio Brandoli in Italy, and had them trimmed and fitted with proper hardware as part of the cosmetic restoration that I had done between 2000 and 2002. The color, incorrectly listed as "Rosso Rubino," is actually Rosso Fiorano Metallizzato. Regards, Fred

I think it's a bit more maroon, but since I've never seen the two colors side-by-side, and Rosso Fiorano changes in different lighting conditions, it's hard to say. I first saw it in pictures of a 360 Modena, and decided to go with it. The interior of 03964 is Bordeaux, and I believe that Rosso Fiorano is very close to the Rosso Bordeaux metallic that was offered on Dinos. Fred

As a U.S. Spec Dino, why does it have a KM/H speedo? I'd love to trade my MP/H speedo for it as my car's speedo was changed when it was imported to the U.S. In '77.
