You have the chirps when you arm and disarm the alarm, but you don't have a siren if the alarm is tripped, correct?

If true, what's the point of having it?

I would agree. It is an expensive way to make the flashing light go away. I could do that with wire cutters.

It will make the light go out, and most importantly it will chirp to let you know that your engine disabler is deactivated without having to stare at the lights. I opted to pay for the original part when I replaced mine just so it works 100% proper.

I'm still not sure that all the GM modules work the way I described. I feel like there were mixed results reported by people who used the GM module. That's why I asked Raymondo for his results.

I just tried this battery method and looks like my alarm is fried inside from the battery acid.

I'm having a tough time finding a supplier for the GM part 15213135. Especially in Canada

Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can find this? It keeps showing as discontinued.

I can't seem to find stock for this anywhere.

Has anyone purchased one recently? Or is there an updated part #?

So did the battery upgrade with a the required rechargeable 9v, alarm chirps twice when I plug it in then nothing after that. Lock/unlock nothing. Checked the 3 pins that are used for the module and they seem to be proper. Ground, charge line with 14.1vdc coming right now, other pin I take it is the trigger signal but noticed it has a constant 12+ vdc on it. Battery is receiving 9.1v when the car is running. Circuit board looks alright. Does this scenario sound familiar to anyone?

Have you changed out the battery in your remote fob?

OK I'll give that a try. My Fob seems to work fine and have a strong led. Doors lock and unlock fine just no chirps from the siren after it gets plugged in. I'll definitely try a new fob battery though.

Some countries do not allow a verbal chirp. Canada may be that group.

    Did it chirp before?

If yes, then I would remove the plug on the module and reinsert it.

Before you tie everything up close the hood and doors and then try it again

No it didn't chirp before the battery change out. Before I removed the siren i tried unplugging/plugging it in and it was silent. After the battery upgrade at least it chirps when i plug it in. I can understand if certain country codes don't want the chirping for arming or disarming but there is no sound even when the alarm is triggered. So in a nut shell the only sound I have is when I initially plug the siren in and nothing after that. Red light is still on of course.

Is there any special procedure in wiring/mounting the GM #15213135 alarm? I found it for about $70 US but it doesn't seem to "siren" for some people, wonder what you did differently?

    Thanks!

If you red dash LED is still on after your "upgrade" you have a bad circuit board or a wiring problem.

The 1st thing that should occur is the red LED should be out when the car is running.

Right on. Thanks for the help, I'll keep looking for a replacement siren.
