    He wouldnt offer this if the case was strong against him. The judge and the court should take this and move on. They have probably spent this much with the previous trial etc. Given the data released the case is weak at best. Going forward would be simply a political show in my opinion.

    If so is this the first cash offer he's made to them?
    If it is, why now?
    If it isn't, why would he think that they're ready to settle at this point?


    20mil is a rounding error given his fortune but the man does love his gold.

    My guess as to why now would be his guys are making a pretty good case & feel they may just be ready to accept it rather than risking continuing (?) I have no idea how such things work, but maybe they'll come back with "make it 40MM and we've got a deal". Everyone saves a little face and goes home happy.....

    Indeed. May be just about enough to sway public opinion in favor of saying "**** it, let's just drop the whole thing & move on" maybe?

    Hopefully Florian will give us the "local update/feelings" shortly.

    Article says dollars. Given what he has earned since the event in question, this is a total victory. Period. Never a doubt to me he would not see jail. Im betting a good portion of this can be reduced/deducted from operating expenses/taxes etc. Plus he is paying in dollars. A victory complete for Bernie if true.

    CVC can now start the stock floatation/listing again. This clears the path for many things to happen for F1 as a business.

    Hopefully that will make the sport better as well. Time will judge of course!

    Whether it is a win or not would depend on how much $ he made by bribing the German banker. Just coughing up $ 100 mio isn't a win per se.

    IIRC the whole thing was about snatching the German TV rights away from rival competitors and that's certainly worth more, so yes, looks like a win.

    The guy is an insane risk taker though.

    Quite happy he gets to stay out of jail. Now buy F1 back from CVC, strongarm the FIA and get rid of silly engines...or at least add another turbo so there's more noise. And extend tanks with another 40 kg or so and get rid of the fuel flow limit.
