    hello all my friend friends - best to to all - well my speedometer and odometer stopped working on my 87 testarossa - not good ,reading all the threads it might be the speedometer sensor - near the oil filter - my question please has any one changed one and to buy one please - would this be the problem - is there any thing esle i should do first - just don't like to buy parts that are not needed - but i can't sleep with this not working - it does not look that bad to change if - if someone could give me a little due's and don't's on changing it - but i see my tach also not working correctly - it will go up and then reads - what's up with this - have 13k on the car - nothing has been touched under the dash - but it time to check it out please - thank you for any infor - you guys and girls are great - ps i love my testarossa . thank you jim from calif - best to you all - have a great summer .

    I don't have an answer, as a noob owner. However, at least when the officer asks "Do you know how fast you were going?", you can honestly say "No sir!". :)
    I'm sure one of the experts will chime in.

    Sounds like it might be the pickup /sensor feed from the front of the engine. Part number 116987.

    I had to replace this sensor last year, I think it only cost £60:00 at my Indy, problem solved,

    there are 2 sensors on the l/h side at the rear right above the dist cap - a little back -that go into the clutch housing - one is color coded white and the other is color coded black - i have removed them and cleaned them for they were real dirty - also checked with a meter - no opens -i was just looking for a open - what should they read - can anyone sent me a picture please - that would be cool thanks jim

    what you mean is the rpm sensor and the TDC sensor, has nothing to do with speedometer or odometer

    Jim, sorry to hear you have a minor issue and knowing you like things perfect I can see how it will bother you.

    I had the same issue with the my TR. It was the sensor at first and then it was the speedo acting up and after several attempt of having it speedo repaired, I had to replace it. Lucky for me, I found a complete cluster within near same miles on eBay. I purchased it and install it and the problem was solved. When I sold the car the original cluster went the car.

    You might want to call The Auto Gallery and talk to Eric. He might have one laying around.

    i will try calling eric thank you - also i have heard that a 355 sending unit will work - just have to change the connector - trying to get one asap -will up date - thank you guys - be cool - keep those testarossa on the road for i am trying - thanks jim
