Id like to know the true # for all money associated with his payment to Grabo. Im thinking the actual number would astonish a few given the effect of compound interest and the addition of any funds not on the books so to speak.

Good point as well, what we see in court is normally just the provable tip of the iceberg

Nothing like being "the man" who openly bribed a Judge during a bribery trial. Everyone's for sale.

    +1 :)

    As for how the money may get spent, I thought this comment from one his attorneys (Sven Thomas) was pretty good;

    Awesome!....

I doubt that 100 million builds a nice circuit. Didn't Austin cost more like 300 million?

    Bwah, bwah, bwah!.....

If you guys had followed the story, you'd know neither of those statements is close to true.

Seems that as the trial unfolded the prosecutors case was getting weaker & weaker - The 'smoking gun' the judge himself had hoped to see never appeared. Further, it seems that he approached the prosecutors suggesting they better settle this mess or seriously risk losing it all. Hence the offer.

A 100MM (in almost any currency ;)) is a significant chunk of change, but Bernie can put it behind him and stays in control of his empire. Bavaria gets some $ in the bank and no egg on it's face.

As the Viz noted, " everyone's happy!"

What has this got to do with F1 exactly?

    Cheers,
    Ian

Not sure how to respond to that comment.

I think 60 odd years of history, Ferrari ever present, the WCC & WDC's is much more what F1 is than one single guy.

Sure, he's turned it into the most watched sport on the planet outside the WC and Olympics every four years. He's made many folk insanely wealthy & raped a few others along the way.

But overall, I'd have to say he's been good for the sport I love.

    Cheers,
    Ian
