Scud I went back and forth on this for a long time myself. Ultimately decided on the Scud. Scud was such a nicer more powerful drive IMO that I felt if I bought a CS I was worried I would crave more in terms of power. Don't get me wrong I love the CS and I actually still hope to buy one soon in addition to the Scud. But happy I went with the Scud first. CS will be icing on the cake.
IMHO - I believe it will only get more difficult to find a mint CS with time due to number produced, age, collectors adding them their garages, ... You can always get the CS now and trade to a Scud later since at moment the CS is on the rise price wise while the Scud has slowly been goin down.
I love both cars, and had to make a decision on which one I wanted to buy last year.. and I picked the Scud. You can ask all you want here, but you have to go with your gut and what you would personally want the most. You're just going to get the same ol' "this one is better" opinion here. And in all fairness, there is no loser no matter what you pick!
You should drive both. As people are saying, the scud is faster but it's the CS that still leaves me dreaming, even after 11 years. You can talk to Eduardo. He had a CS then a Scud. The scud lasted maybe 2 years. The 2nd CS has been a keeper since 2005. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I really love the Scud, it's my favourite Ferrari....but sometimes i really admire the CS more than Scud. CS is the last raw 'small ferrari'. I would go for a nice example of a CS.
So about 1288 CS's were made. How many Scuds ? The price difference between the two doesn't seem to be all that great what makes the 360 CS more desirable to some ? Is it more raw and connected than the 430 Scud ? A few years ago when the 430 Scud came to the Dallas dealership I thought for sure that was "it" but the idea of the 360 CS being the first has appeal.
If you read all of the write ups on the CS there is one that sticks in my mind. The Person driving it said when you put your foot down the noise makes you want to soil your pants. It was also built off the main 360 production line so this in itself makes it pretty special in my mind.I walked away from one 2 years ago because I was looking for the perfect car. In hindsight it was the worst decision I have ever made. Buy one while they are still available because there are more than 1288 ferrari collectors in the world today and soon you will not see many for sale. You can always add the scud later.
I always wanted to "upgrade" to a Scud. I got a CS a couple of years back b/c that's all I could afford. Now I can get a Scud but two things holding me back. 1. reading threads like this. Maybe I should just forget about this "upgrading" idea. 2. stupid California law makes me pay sales tax again on the whole car, not the delta for trade in.
CS was built on the standard production line, it was an unlimited series production car! I had a CS and now a 16M so not quite the mix the OP is asking about but close. Never regretted moving on, CS is a stunning car but the extra power and above all the absolutely stunning SF2 F1 gearbox make for an experience turned up to 11. Both look and sound great although I have gone to a full Capristo on the 16M so perhaps stock I would give exhaust sound to the CS. Looks are subjective, always loved the 360/CS but Scud looks great and I do prefer the rear of the Scud. Truthfully both cars are from the old school, you make the difference (yes even with an F1 box) and both reward. I can only speak for the UK but both are rising in value - there were 119 UK CS's delivered new and 165 Scud's so rarity is on the side of the CS but not by much. There are no wrong choices here!
IMHO all the advice is right that the CS is more raw and also the better investment. I think given your case where you have a bunch of other cars the CS makes more sense. If someone were looking for their first Ferrari and choosing between the two I'd recommend the Scud as I think its just that much more modern and a little easier handling at its limits.
Thanks for all the posts guys, I have decided on a CS. If you are in the US and you have a great CS you might be willing to part with, please PM me!
Just saw a couple of beautiful challenge stradales down at Black Horse Motors in Naples, one in TDF/black the other in rosso scuderia/red.
I bought my CS from Darren at BHM after consulting the Stradalelama. Great car and fantastic transaction.
That's great to hear your opinion...they always seem to have some nice cars listed and I'm always weary of South Florida used car dealers for some reason.
