Ron, Did the sills missing look that way when you saw it? It seems like the 206 is a ok car, but a project. If that's the case, I don't think the number is that crazy bad. The GTO was so hyped, I think people let their imaginations run wild based on supposed private GTO sales. It is at a value tonight that still should be the most expensive car auctioned. A new record. Kinda funny when breaking a record leaves people disappointed.
Don't know what you mean by `sills missing'. Almost all of the 10 cars auctioned tonight went at or below bottom of range.
In one of the catalog photos, it looks like the lower rocker panel below the door is completely missing. Did you notice anything about the rockers or have pictures of those areas?
Did not notice anything unusual, but then again I was not looking at that specific area. If the car is still on site tomorrow, I will check since I'm attending their auction tomorrow as well (free VIP admission is hard to turn away!).
None of the dinos you photographed look all that sharp, so I wouldn't at all be surprised if they don't sell for big bucks, or if they don't sell at all. These rising prices are bringing all sorts of cars out of the woodwork, not all of them worth buying.
I agree about the `out of the woodwork' observation. I was shocked when I looked over the 246's in detail. The Black one was pretty nice, but I really don't like Dino's with Flares...they look too much like kit cars for my taste.
Apologies for briefly going off topic but it is not that people did not appreciate original colors, in fact The Dino Compendium details the quantity of Dinos painted Red is the highest of any original color, so perhaps the factory thinks the Dino looks good in them too. When I was looking for my first Dino in 1989 it was the case that Ferraris that were associated with their racing effort were the ones that appreciated in value. Ferrari's racing color is red and that spurred the popularity by buyers and dealers followed that with the humorous term "resale red". Personally I like Ferrari's Racing Red color on Dinos. The Dino has a distant relationship with racing due to the engine but still there is a connection and this is one of the things that the 308 crowd don't understand when they arrive here and talk about auction price divergence between the two models.

pick your model, this applies throughout....price expectation is to realize what 'last years' Nice-very nice cars brought in terms of sales price. Sellers are asking "the market" to buy INFERIOR goods at SUPERIOR pricing. With that in mind.....as prices dip or level-out, causation more of a function of poor cars vs. "bubble-popping". As always, good-great cars will fetch more $$ !! I see this as healthy, realistic and hopefully washing the market..... btw, did you notice those hideous welds on ALL those Dinos ? Jack
Just got it. LOT 10 at Gooding the blue 1974 GTS sold for $400,000 hammer, $440,000 total. Same price as RM lot 141.
The unrestored 275GTS sold for just over $1M, against an estimate of $1.75 to 2M. This is beside the point, but to me a million dollar car should be something very special. Which the 275GTS is not.
Rick Cole Dino 8454 - Currently bid at 396,000 without BP or CA tax. Reserve not met. Online bidding runs until midnight tonight. No bid yet on the 1955 410S at 19M, but it's 13 hours to go.
