I've had the car for almost 15 years and drive it a few times a month. Practically anything mechanical has been redone/rebuilt during this time.

I was shown the Red Lusso that is coming up in the Salon Prive auction. Someone said it was grotty and then others leapt to its defence.

All I can say is if thats a shed then load me up with sheds.. it is quite literally stunning

Yards and yards of rebuild photographs and paperwork

So good I was almost afraid to sit in it...

Bill Claxton made this photography in S Mc Queen house s Brenwood (CA).
Niele Adams with a total indifference, reading her magasine
and Steve Mc Queen in admiration with his Lussos parking. It seems #4891 made his opinion.
Finally, this picture represents perfectly the relashionship betweem Ferrari admirators
    and their woman :)

Mark, quite frankly, that is the most beautiful car I have ever seen.

As an owner of the Lusso, and the 275, which of those do you feel the 550/575 is more closely related to since you own one of those as well.?

I think I'm correct in saying the 275 gtb replaced the lusso as the front engine road car, so in terms of relations they are descendants. In terms of which one feels more like a 550/575 I would say the 275, simply because it feels and drives almost like a modern sports car whereas the lusso is more of a period feel, even though they are from the same decade.

i thought the 275 gts replaced the lusso and the 275gtb replaced the 250 swb. berlinettas replace berlinettas("street racers")

This is not correct IMHO. The 275GTS is a convertible and was not a replacement for the Lusso, in fact it was a more modern version of the 250 California. "Street racers" is not a correct translation for "berlinetta" (it means 'little saloon', hardly a racing term), a better translation would be coupé (coupe for American readers).

In terms of philosophy, as in how the cars were envisioned, I think the 330GTC is the closest descendant of the 250 GT/L. The 275GTB is the successor of the 250 SWB, with both models having more competition-oriented and more GT-oriented versions.

Well, the SWB was of course replaced by the GTO and I'd say the GTO was replaced by the LM.

The 275 GTB replaced the Lusso and was in his turn replaced by the Daytona.

Ferrari rarely produced "successor" models immediately. The GTC is the logical new Lusso.

Don't you know, the GTO was just an updated SWB! :)

Berlinetta is reserved for two-seaters only with a fastback rear. The Lusso qualifies only just. The GTC is clearly a coupé.

Most of these names originate from the horse drawn carriages BTW.

and probably rightfully so. Did lead us to the 275 GTB/C, which is nice ;)
