What if I told you that Dave Helms did the PPI on my 98 12000 mile car and made a note saying "newer style headers". Is there such a thing? Also commented they look great.

According to the people that advised me, yes there is such a thing.

Do they "look great"? Are they still functioning without issues? Is your "suppose" question an affirmative , I.e. Did Dave say that in your PPI or is that just a hypothetical question?

I never brought it up here before because I didn't want to hear the flaming. So when the was shipped here, Craig at Studio47 said basically the same. I'm glad someone else here has heard that. So I assume your replacements are the "newer style" oem?

Mine were bought and installed last year by Classic Coach on recommendation by the people I mentioned above.

Dave and Craig also gave me the letter from Ferrari stating after XXXX chassis number, they switched to the steel guides and told me not to worry too much since mine was well after and had good compression in all cylinders.

I have that bulletin also but many have said bronze guides were mixed in and found in cars that should not have them. I cannot confirm or deny.

When someone puts there money behind a decision on something like headers, until they fail they will defend their choice on here. I am no different in that regard.

The blanket statements that it is a given that you MUST use aftermarket headers is just misleading and incorrect.

I ran all the aftermarket options by Dave in my decision process and he felt new OEM headers are the best option at this time.

    Flame on

I was told the same by both Dave and Craig. I only look to do test pipes for more sound. The tubi does not seem that loud but then again it only has 2000 miles through it.

If you want loud, put a challenge exhaust on (no muffler). You will then be in the club of neighbors that hate your car like I am lol :)

I like yours but then I read someone said yours was louder than a Challenge! Yours did not sound that loud to me. It sounded just right. But then again it was crappy computer speakers. I searched for a Challenge exhaust but could not find one.

I've never posted sound clips of mine. I hope to create some this weekend or next. It's loud as hell ;)

Ok, I was wrong, maybe I listened to the car on the track with a challenge and thought it was loud and then someone commented yours was louder. I will be interested to hear it then.

Brian Crall's preference is Tubi's. "Significantly more expensive but has proven far less problematic than the factory units." This is a quote from the F355 buyer's guide. For what its worth.
