My A/C doesn't cool down the interior of the car anymore. Last mechanic recharged R12 into my system a year ago, he inspected the A/C lines and found no leaks. However, A/C stop blowing cold after six months. I am trying to recharge the system myself this time, and I found "Enviro-Safe Refrigerant" that is compatible with R12 system and has good reviews and much cheaper than R12. Has anyone try this product? Is it safe to use?

I have used Enviro-Safe in my Mondial and my 348 with good results. No problems on either car.

I put some in my 91 348 to get me through to summer. I didn't want to convert to 134a until my major this winter. So I just wanted something to hold it over. Is seems my AC has other issues though.

The enviro-safe or 12a as some call it is mostly propane and butane. Declared illegal to mix with r12 and 134a by the US EPA, but whatever there's only about 100,000,000 people that have done it and it works fine.

They sure sounds scary from EPA and FBI warnings.
Maybe I should just buy the regular R12, but they are so expensive now.

Just get it sucked out and flushed then convert to 134a. Cheaper in the long run and you can buy it and recharge yourself whenever needed. You need a license to buy R12 now so that means you're paying someone to do a very simple procedure every time.

I just did the other stuff because I didn't want to get it all done then have it sucked out again a couple months later when I do the engine out. I'll convert at that time.

Yes, I've used both Red Tek and Duracool. Both work very well. Don't be put off by the horror stories.

Works great. I've installed it in 5 cars now. It's flammability is dependent on high pressures and some other usually just plain negligent factors. I'm more terrified of a big fuel tank sitting begin me with a bunch of fuel lines than this stuff.

Use this product, if it's an EPA approved product as it should be safe to use.
