I bought a 2010 458 Italia in late may of 2014. Everything has been great with the exception of constant failure lights common on like a Christmas tree on my dash board. The car goes into a "Safe Moe" and drops the power of the engine on purpose so you don't drive it fast.

The cause is from a sudden drop of voltage or amperage, it usually happens when it is very hot over 105 f. It will sometimes take about 10 min of running and it will go back to normal. The dealer installed a new battery, and the issue went away for about 4 weeks and now its back.

The dealer checked the battery to make sure it was still good and everything was positive.

So they downloaded the memory of activity the car has had and sent it to Ferrari yesterday to see if there is an upgrade fix for it.

Our current theory is that if the sensor loses voltage under 11.9 v for just a millisecond it triggers the failure lights.

I really hope this software upgrade fixes it.

Are you keeping the car on the trickle charger? That seems to fix this problem for most people

the "only when hot" is a key clue. Likely you have a sensor (eg. MAF) or a loose connection somewhere - when hot, the current/voltage are affected. The limp mode could also be triggered by a sensor that is reading incorrectly (eg. engine temp, inlet air temp) when hot; these engines do back off a lot when they are hot, or ambient conditions are hot.

We saw this on the 458 race cars, it can be maddening to track down sometimes. We'd see error codes only when hot....finally traced it. These cars are very sensitive to glitches in current and voltage.

At this point, likely not the battery or software, however hopefully Tech Support can read the data and suggest the likely culprit by looking at the electrical.

    please keep us posted.
