What valve guides did you go wth?
Why are you having the head rebuilt without doing both. With 80k I would do both and be done with it.
not sure I understand. what do you mean "both"? do you mean changing the guides and do the rebuild? I have not done a complete rebuild. just valve seats and valves cleaning and re-seating. only had a small leak one of the exhaust valves in cyl.3. the guides looked solid to last me to the next major. I know there are a lot of non OEM parts that are better than OEM but it is just a non pleasant feeling I get if I used them. OEM or nothing that's me
Maybe I misread ...I thought you only had one head rebuilt ...if I was in that far I would have had both heads completely rebuilt.. I burnt up a head on my 993 after a distributor belt broke. I had them pull all 6 and had them done. Figured while I was in there might as well do them all
Yes, Ferrari did quite a few things wrong with this car, pretty much everyone here agrees. I used to be a "stock-freak" until I bought my 355.
all were Reconditioned (not a complete rebuilt). there was nothing wrong with the guides or the seats or the valves. had a chat with the tech team there and from what we saw the decision was made to delay the complete rebuilt to the next major. couldn't bring myself to pull out perfectly working OEM parts to replace them with new ones.
Will definitely do the rebuilt on the next major. The car is for some road fun. Never red line acceleration and drive less than 500 miles a year. love the car he way it was designed. if issues arise, I will deal with them then. I guess I have collectors mentality.
That makes sense, and you will be fine using only stock parts IMO, but try your best to put more than 500 miles per year on her! I'm at 4,000 a year roughly, totally worth it.
Well, don't you think that Ferrari has improved their OEM parts like belt tensioners over the past 20 years! I believe the problem was in the bearings. that should have been sorted by now.
I wish I have more time to drive it. but I try to avoid riding in the hot summer of Dubai. that's about 3 months (perfect timing for annual service). I go for rides when the weather is cooler and have some free time. enjoy your ride. beautiful car to drive. best handling ever
