Hmmm.... Interesting indeed. I guess Ericsson brings money, whereas Koby's getting paid a little?

However, this guy hasn't driven an F1 car in 10 years, but has done well at Le Mans - Wonder where he's getting money from? Surely he's not desperate enough to pay for a **** ride like that himself at this stage of his career?

I suspect our buddy Colin Kolles is up to something.....

    Cheers,
    Ian

I don't think koby is getting paid anything is he? He left Ferrari test team (or whatever it was) to go real racing for no money I think.

Wonder if Lotterer raced for Kolles' LMP team at some stage...

You could well be right. Either way, I'm pretty sure he's not bringing any money to the party.

So, to me anyway, it makes no sense to replace him unless his replacement is bringing some big $..... It's not like he completely sucks these days and apparently his feedback is pretty good.

Hadn't thought of that.... Research needed. I guess it's possible Kolles *really* rates him highly, but I'd be surprised if he were doing it for anything other than the mighty dollar!

    Cheers,
    Ian

Yeah he won't be bringing cash I reckon...I think he outqualified Erickson just about every time unless his car had issues so far this season? I'm sure he gets some money but nothing significant. Under 150K euro all in I'd hazard a guess.

Bit of research reveals that they did indeed work together in 2009 (racing together with another colourful character): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Zwolsman,_Jr.

Interesting profile of Zwolsman Jr and especially Sr.

Lotterer to only race in Belgium. Kobayashi to be back in his seat in Monza.

    Very strange.

confirmed by numerous sites like Caterhams!

I agree, seems odd to me. Even if it really is to "bring in another driver who can help us develop the car better than the two blokes we've hired for the year", wow.

Will be interesting to see if he can place higher even for one race.

probably Andre's backers are paying Caterham a really huge sum for this.
