+1 Interest. I too have a Modena air intake laying around and was considering adapting. Any downside? I was thinking the Spider air duct has more relief openings for drainage than the Modena due to rear body/ roof shape to allow for greater run off and such.

Is the snorkel a stock 360 Modena part? The one I saw look different (no a smooth tubular look like the one pictured).

Have taken a vid with sound on the mod which I did.

360 Spider - Air Induction sound (Modified air intake snorkel) - YouTube

Car is stationary, and not under any load.

In the second segment of the video, I've placed the dashcam closer...

When the car is being driven normally, all passengers describe the air intake sound to be very obvious and quite aggressive sounding.

I've been too caught up for the past couple of weeks. Will try to compile and post here asap.

Edit: Going to upload this to a website. Image resized during upload..

Finally managed to put get all the pics and hopefully come up with something helpful.

A dremel comes in extremely handy for this project.

Other additional bits and pieces you will need:
    - Selleys Knead It Putty (I use the putty for steel)
    - longer screw/bolt (for the extra screwing point meant for the Modena, and not the spider)
    - Optional super large hose clamp (I used this as an added precaution to hold the air snorkel in place, due to only using 2 screw points).

I wasn't too worried about looks, as its covered by the panels. For the more pedantic, just respray over, etc. to make it look better.

    Hope the pictures help.

After about 2 weeks of driving with this modification, everyone has commented about it. Very loud and aggressive induction sound, and very loud throttle body sound (especially when blipping during downshifts).

From a performance perspective, I've noticed that the car accelerates much smoother.

Take care with removing the screws holding the snorkel to the body. It's frustrating due to it being very inaccesible without the right tools and/or having large hands. This is the worst part of the whole process.

Good luck for those who's about to do this mod. Well worth it in my 2c worth of opinion. :)

    Hello F430 Moders,

Just did the trick with mine :)
    I am not 100% posirtive I hear a difference.

I would say soft top down I think the volume just went bigger and meaner.

How many of you tried it ? Any difference ?

    cheers,
    Seb

I've done it on my 360. Didn't notice much difference between with the resonator box in place, without it and the holes open, and finally with the holes taped up. Just left it with the holes taped up in the end. I'm running k&n filters and stock exhaust.

    KC,

You have some guts running the K & N's. I have had some problems with the MAF sensors without the oiled up air filters.
